Now, this seems strange

Today, a new story of mine posted in the E/C category. That's not strange; I have dozens of stories there. What is strange is that there are no views listed yet, but I have already received 65 votes, which is an unusually high number for an E/C story. I have some that are two or three years old that don't have anywhere near that many. No views is not strange either, because they just haven't been posted yet. What is strtange is that I have received four emails and there is one PC, all complimentary, but the story has a score of 3.65.

The story is about a secretary sucking off her boss. It's not any kind of sexual harassment; the blow job is her idea, and she enjoys it as much as he does, but I suspect that a good number of women with clerical jobs took umbrage and bombed it for that reason. :(

It is strictly stroke, like most of what I write, and there may be some literature professor types who object to that also.

The least strange part is why there are votes but no views (although by now there should be views). The view stats are only updated a couple of times a day, it seems. (I've had a stranger wrinkle than this--votes on the story before it registers on the "new" list.)

The next least strange part is the high vote count and (relatively) low rating. Someone who doesn't love you is leaning on the three star on every computer they can get to. That's just my guess, of course.

The site (Manu) just installed that new voting interface. I bet you have fallen victim to it. A lot of us figure votes will average lower under the new regime.

That could be, although I think it would be somebody who thinks I am slandering secretaries. :( Maybe a couple of people. Since starting this thread, there are five more votes, totaling 70, and the score is 3.64. The two PC are not all that laudatory, and the thermometers say 75. The emails are very complimentary. :) There are still no view listed.

It could be the new system. Under no circumstances would I call it "one of the best". It is nothing but a rather tame stroke story.

I think so too. "One of the best" is a pretty hard ranking to achieve, especially if we are being compared with professional authors, which most of us aren't.
