Now they say Tony Scott didn't have brain cancer

You must have really hated Top Gun.

The first time I saw it, I turned it off after they buzzed the tower and got sent to Top Gun. That was so far outside the realm of anything that would actually happen that I just couldn't take any more. Months later I finally finished it and felt no different than I did the first time.

FYI - you shouldn't watch John Carter either.

Eh, you know what I mean. Top Gun was supposed to be kinda sorta real. I expect bullshit and fantasy but come on. That just wouldn't happen. Ever. Under any circumstances. I couldn't get past that.
Of course I also have problems with several scenes in Star Wars so there ya go.

Han shot first.

What I'd like to know is: what movie is realistic? Lack of realism is what keeps it from becoming a documentary.

I'll wait until the family puts out a statement. Until then, anything heard is like GB, mostly unfounded and unreliable rumors and gossip.

For the record, I didn't like Top Gun. then again, I don't think Tom Cruise is a good actor.

Yeah, no shit. Why they gotta try and make him a good guy is beyond me. He's a smuggler, he's supposed to be bad. He took Greedo out before he got taken out. Fuckin' Lucas really pisses me off sometimes.

The family did. So did the coroner.

Yeah, and how about when they released the "remastered" ones in the late nineties? The Max Reebo band looked so fucking stupid in CGI.

The largest enemy of Star Wars is George Lucas.

Wow. Then I guess the speculation of the reason behind his suicide will be full-bore.

And which television/cable network will be the first create a movie, "Based on facts", of his life and death? My bet is on CBS

He has his moments, Risky Business for instance. And...erm...well, there was Risky Business!

Rich Hall on Tom Cruise.

I met the man, back before his first marriage to Mimi Rogers. I'm not tall - 5' 9" - and he was at least 2 inches shorter than me. He was scouting locations for a movie and came into the restaurant where I was working.

A friend of mine works at Shepperton Studios, I used to live just down the road, and he told me that when Cruise was on set all the tall blokes in the crew were kept as far away from him as possible. It might be bollocks but he was a fairly reliable guy.

My favorite part was the final reel when Maverick and Iceman vanquished all the commie "bogies" and were reunited back on the carrier to the rousing cheers of all the flight deck worker bees -- as if any of those guys would have any way of knowing what was taking place over 100 miles from the ship.

So he's probably not going to be sending back the letter I sent requesting my money back for seeing The Grey?

Why let the truth ruin a "good" movie

All these wild rumors are enough to make a guy jump off a bridge.

Or, drive off a cliff into a rock quarry with a groundhog.
