Prepare yourselves for the shrill whining of every anti-disarmament pathos out there. (More than normal)
There will be incredible claims, accusations, and a whole lot of hate.
You might want to go to the fluffier threads for a few day.
The latest;
U.S. Central Command confirmed to Fox News that coalition troops are currently in the center of Baghdad, meeting little resistance as they charged into the capital city.
In another dramatic turn for the 3rd Infantry, the outfit captured the headquarters of the Republican Guard's Medina Division. The Army's 3rd Infantry Division had met Iraqi resistance in a predominantly industrial part of the city early Saturday, Fox News has learned.
"As of this morning, coalition forces are actually in the city of Baghdad," said Navy Capt. Frank Thorp. "As we moved into the city, we saw sporatic fighting, we've actually moved through the republican guard divisions to pretty much the center of the city."
When Thorpe was asked if the U.S. Army's V Corps and the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force were on a probing mission, Thorp said, "That's not the intent to come back out. They're in Baghdad."
About 35 miles to the southeast, in the town of Suwayrah, Army soldiers rolled into the headquarters of the Republican Guard's Medina division and easily captured the entire base Saturday. It appeared the guard's defenses had collapsed; hundreds of bunkers and foxholes and dozens of artillery pieces were abandoned nearby.
When asked about the number of troops advancing, Thorp simply stated that "We have substantial forces now moving into the city."
With U.S. commandos already inside the Iraqi capital, columns of Army and Marine armored vehicles advanced from the south. They met occasionally stiff resistance, fighting Iraqi tanks as well as army, Republican Guard and Fedayeen forces.
"They're pretty much cut off in all directions," Air Force Cpt. Dani Burrows said Saturday morning. "Pretty much what you've got here is a chokehold around Baghdad."
