This is what I had to say about it in Rory's bait thread where he claims that the problem is police officers giggling about racism so that's why they simply shoot blacks for no reason. Even though of course the entire concept that they shoot blacks for no reason is blatantly false:

No, you are witnessing the result of conflating the "facts" as defined, not by the actual shooting review, but by initial, hysterical reports on a mere handful of possibly legitimately questionable shootings only blacks with every single death of a black in a police shooting.

No matter if the decedent was armed, not armed, shot first or not, suicidal, in midst of a violent felony, the race of the officer or any other mitigating factor that ought to be looked at when examining whether a shooting is or is not justified.

This campaign of Black lives matters has as its roots a simple effort to get the black population angry enough to go out and vote in a non presidential election with no black guy at the top of the ticket. It was coldly calculated and this is the result.

It is understandable how those who cynically devised this campaign could reasonably expect that such a message would be received well in the black community. It is an absolute fact that cops are more likely to put their hands on black suspects since most blacks of experience that they were ready to receive the message that cops were simply shooting people for no reason. That message is 100% false but it doesn't matter it's well received.

The problem is, people looking at the relationship between the black community and cops assume that first of all correlation equals causation and secondly assume that their reasoning for what the causation is, is accurate.

Cops, right or wrong, are apt to report that blacks are considerably less compliant than others when in contact with the police. The cops expect and demand compliance to their orders. The law allows them to expect and demamd this. the time to argue with the cops is with your lawyer present in a courtroom not at the side of the road at the side of the road it's yes sir no sir how can I help you sir. Blacks tend to put a lot of stock in maintaining face and not allowing anyone to quote unquote disrespect them. Cops disrespect everyone it's their job.

Black lives matters does absolutely zero to defuse this dynamic. As we are seeing, it exacerbates it. If you want another generation of blacks to be raised to be suspicious of cops, belligerent towards cops, you are going to find cops with their hands on blacks putting them up against the wall frisking them, ensuring that they are not armed, before having a conversation with them.

Cops look at behavior. You can keep pretending all you want that they're looking at skin color but they're looking at behavior.

Cops do make mistakes, cops do make errors in judgment, but that is completely different from what is going on when the cops are being shot, which is premeditated first-degree murder. Epecially when the cops are being shot only for wearing the uniform and not for being involved in an allegedly bad shooting not for even serving in a department that had a single incident of an allegedly bad shooting.

I didn't get around to commenting on smooth's remarks the other night but wanted to both acknowledge the reality that he experiences with cops treating in the way that they do and his valid feelings of enmity toward them.

There are two sides to that coin. Cops experience far more violence in the black vommunity and are on edge, expecting the worst, even when violence, on objective assessment is unlikely, like the guy with his kid in the car.

None of what's going on is likely to improve that.

Those that push the black lives matter movement with its dishonest theme of wholesale, unwarranted, execution of blacks own these cop killings. They need to be proud of them. They were part of the movement that caused them.

Cops are now going to arrive in the black community four at a time, every time. Which means they are going to get 25% of the policing that they used to get. Which means crime rates will rise. Those four cops, when they do show up (late) are going to be at hair-trigger. There will be other incidents; mistakes will be made; cops will be shot; and the cycle will continue.

It all started with the mischaracterization of the Trayvon Martin shooting as an effort to get out the black vote that didn't vote in the same level of enthusiasm as they did with Obama at the top of the ticket. That's all this was ever about.
