November 22

It's like watching the U.S. descend into madness. The Kennedy assassination precipitated a cultural upheaval that would define our country for generations to come.

I was just a toddler, then, but I felt it.

Honestly, it was a mixture of despair and rage that everyone in the country felt.

Adults can be really scary to a young person when their President is assassinated.

Albeit fiction, I read 11/22/63 a few weeks ago and I enjoyed the timeliness of reading that right before this anniversary.

Thanks for bringing that to light again.

I was in 4th grade the day JFK was assassinated. Mrs. Diehl was the teacher, and when we first heard that the president had been shot and wounded she told us to bow our heads. She was going to lead us in a prayer for his recovery.
Then this Danny Barong spoke up and said we couldn't pray because of the separation of church and state. Mrs. Diehl stared at him for a moment and then resumed with the lesson.
Kennedy would still be alive today if Danny Barong would have kept his mouth shut.

Seems like the NYC stock exchange was less hysterical, back then. Word about how nasty the CIA was/is did not reach my tender ears until I was much older.

I was in the second grade.

Our teacher thought that it would be good for us to learn about current events and see the President Live on Television.

How did that work out...

Not too good!

People did not know what was happening...was it finished or the start of something worse.

No pun intended but there were a lot of pale faces around and not much talking in public.

Talk about Red Alert!
