You all who want to post stories involving children need to know this. If you've watched the news lately, then you know that you can be picked up for questioning by the FBI just for expressing certain fantasies in a medium. They are monitoring major erotica sites and subpoenaing records of members.
Personally, I don't like or condone stories involving kids, but I think this warning needs to be given out.

I agree

Very good call on that. Though our country (America) is free speech, we need to remember the effects our desires may warrant.

I agree with what you said here, Rambling Man, and I feel it's worth pushing this thread up to the top. (Perhaps we can ask Laurel to "sticky" this thread for a while?)

Some people may wonder why we are so protective of "our" site here, and some wonder what harm it will do if a story has a teen or preteen kid in it... Well, we are an online community of some close-knit people. Sure, not all of us get along here with one another, but many of us have a friend or two and feel Lit is our home.

Bottom line, we do not wish to lose this site!!! Granted the "Mr. Candyman" E-group on Yahoo catered to kiddie porn, it was closed down. We do not want the government to think that Lit "allows" child erotic stories here, since we do not.

So, next time you wonder what harm will it do, remember Mr. Candyman. You may think an erotic story of a 15 year old losing her virginity is not "child porn" but someone else here might. So, Lit sticks to the U.S. MINIMUM legal adult age (since the site owners live in California, USA) of 18. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. It's U.S. Law and it's their rule. Live with it or leave.

As far as jepordizing the existence of this forum, I totally agree. It's just not worth it. It would be sad indeed were this place to get shut down for reasons like that.

If more could be done to police illegal content that would be great, and if there was some way to verify age, without it costing anyone anything that would be great also.

But mostly it's up to the members to police themselves, rules and what not can only go so far.

Until we can get a "sticky" I am pushing this thread to the TOP of the board to remind all why we do NOT want kiddie porn at Literotica!

I like to write incest stories, but I most strongly agree that involving kids in them is totally out. Fantasy or not leave kids out of it.

Bumb..to the top again....lol

I may be new to this forum....I have posted here before and have even contributed a story ...so I will add my name to the list of people saying...LEAVE THE CHILDREN ALONE......
thank you ...and lets keep this forum open and free...

Is there any need to include anyone under the age of 18 in a story anyway?

In sexual scenes? In my opinion...NO. If the kids are in a scene running off to school or summer camp, to set a theme of a housewife/mother or something, that's one thing....but if they're put into a sexual scene that's another, and a "NO NO" in my opinion.

If the story in its entirity contains any sexual content, then the setting should be rewritten. At best "...her kids were off at camp." Get things started and keep it going.

One important consideration we must all have is If we were of the intended age in the story being written would we adhere/enjoy whatevers going on? I think in hindsight, in most situations we would all answer NO. But at the time, horny adolescence and all that then we maybe would have enjoyed the expoerience. BUT, if there is a place for children in erotica, its in the minds of the people who wish to hold those thoughts. It doesn't make them bad people for thinking about it, PROVIDING they dont go out and commit those thoughts into actions.
So, No there is not a place for "kiddie-porn" on here or the rest of the net.

Sorry about the essay! its nt like me - no paragraphing, or proper punctuaton. i had so much to say i had to just get it out quickly!

Yes, the rules of this site forbid the use of characters under 18. It is within their rights and I respect that. However, it is *not* illegal to write about underage characters. Hell, there is quite a bit of mainstream literature that has these themes. Ann Rice, Nabakov, Nora Roberts just to name a few names. I don't think the Feds are investigating them....

My point here is that it is a story. If you don't like it, don't fucking read it. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean nobody else should read it.

It is illegal to take pictures or have sex with minors, as well it should be. There is a victim in those cases and I'm all for that.

However, there are *no victims* in fiction. Hell, I've killed a few of my characters off ... should I be tried for murder? Are we going to sit back and let Stephen King run free? The man is a walking mass murderer fer Christ sakes.

I get so tired of all the dumbass people who get their panties all in a wad and are willing to sacrifice a few more of our rights to the republic, just because they are offended by something.

If we are going to arrest writers, where there are *no* victims, who's next? What about the bondage folks? They're actually hurting someone. Does it matter if the other party is willing? What about the gay people? Someone should save them from going to hell, right? Make it illegal -- people are offended. Sex before marriage, same deal. Where does it end?

(Now back to your regular scheduled program.)

ENCORE! ENCORE!

It seems that there are ways around actually saying an person is underage. I have read stories in which the author said something to the effect of this: "She had just celebrated her 18th birthday the week before, but because she was so petite, she didn't look to be a day over 14."

By doing it like the author above did, you are stating that the person is "of age", but that they still LOOK very young, or appeared very innocent.

This way, the reader seems to think of the person as being naive, etc.

I am not sure if this is acceptable or not because it is kind of "cheating".

That technique is used all the time by people who are afraid to actually state something. How many times have you read in May/December romances something like "She was 85, but didn't look a day over 50." Same thing for incest tales. You see a lot of mother/father-in-law's or stepbrothers and stepsisters going at it. It's as if a lot of authors have an interest in a given topic, but for some reason lack the conviction to write the tale as it should be written.

As far as I'm concerned, if you want to write about some young stud who is fucking his bedridden grandmother who lives in an old age home, do so. But don't tell me that she looks like a 20-year-old and has unblemished, smooth skin and perky breasts! Likewise, don't make your 20-year-olds look like 12-year-olds. If you feel the need to write about minors having sex, go right ahead. Just be sure if not to post it here at Lit.

Thanks! Points well taken.

The original point of this thread was to warn people to be careful about what they post. It would behove all of us to take that advice! I was just trying to let people know how they can get around the age issue and still be "legal." I am one of the editors at Literotica, and at least a few times each week I get stories that have underage sex, and were rejected at Lit., and then someone asks me how they can get past the age limit rule.

I should have specified that the "technique" that I mentioned was one that I have seen at Lit., but not other story sites that don't seem to care about mentioning underaged people. I personally believe that you should say what you mean when you write.

Theoretically it would make more sense to me to say that someone who is 18 looks like they are let's say 15 or 16. That is believable. Most people know that a woman of 85 would not look like she is only 20. I guess I can speak from experience because when I was 18, people mistook me for being at least two or three years younger. (Now if only those same people would say that I look younger than my age now that I am 35!! :)

I was exaggerating a bit for the sake of making a point, but we are both reading from the same page.

On a totally unrelated topic, how is your workload re: editing? Do you have room for one more story to look over? I went looking for your 'nym on the Volunteer Editor list, but couldn't find it.

I am listed in the editors section under "A+editorgirl."

I have a few stories to edit now, so I am just telling new people I will be glad to read for content and minor spelling errors, but can't really take the time to check for things beyond that.

I'd be glad to look at your story if you would like me to.:rose:

I think it's about time this thread had a respectful nudge back to the top of Story Ideas...
