Not Receiving Feedback via Email

I’ve recently come to realize that I am no longer receiving feedback via email from Literotica. To be clear, what I’m referring to is the feedback that gets sent by readers from either my profile page or from a story page to my email. As a writer with a somewhat decent readership, I would receive a decent amount of feedback this way. But as of a year ago, I no longer received anything this way.

I didn’t pay much though to it at first, as I have other outlets for readers to get in contact for me, so I figured that diverted away some of those who would reach out to me through Lit. I didn’t realize until the last couple days that it had been almost a year since I’d gotten a message through Lit. But upon being reached out to recently about someone who had tried to message me through Lit a week ago, a message I never received, I realized there might be some other issue at play.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? In digging through this board, the possibility was raised that this might bean issue with my email rather than with Lit itself, but with the many changes Lit has going through in recent times, I wanted to check to see if there was some larger issue at play here.

Thanks in advance for any help/feedback.

I do know for a fact (personal experience) that Yahoo bans anything from Literotica as well as other porn sites. Your email provider if not Yahoo may be doing the same

Lots of people have this issue. (Check your spam folder and blocked senders list nonetheless, just in case.

In an odd twist of fate mine (outlook) started working again recently, but hadn’t from April through late September.

To anyone posting, mention your email provider. It helps with identifying commonalities.

Even if it’s mostly the email provider, there are things that sites can do to improve their odds of successful emailing. I did submit a lit bug report or two over time. Whether that helped or not I can’t say.

Edit: Also btw, even while being an adult site, lit isn’t on any of the widely used public blacklists. But that doesn’t mean email providers may not have their own blacklists though

I use Yahoo. Sounds like it's the culprit, based on the previous post and others I've seen.

I'm interested to know what email providers are best used with Lit.

I use a Yahoo email for my account on this site and have never received emailed feedback to it--however, a test message I sent to myself last year did go through, as well as system ones like email address change confirmations.

It may be worth another test. In my case mentioned above I am outlook and it worked fine for years, stopped in April, and returned to working late September.

It seems like it’s usually yahoo, and at least one outlook, me, but there hasn’t been a thread I’ve seen with multiple people all disclosing their email provider at the same time until this one. (I tried!) ;)

Don't know if you're the one to ask on this, but since you're responding in this thread... are there any pitfalls I should know about if I were to just change my email account associated with Lit? I might try it, but I don't want to screw anything up with my account and inadvertently lock myself out of my account or something...

Most honest answer, I’m not sure.

My answer regardless, it’s probably ok, but… you’re right and there is at least some risk of something going wrong.

Maybe: Make a second account, test it out including changing an email address. If it goes well, do it to this account making absolutely certain you have your password in hand with zero doubt.

Then, stay logged in and test logging in on a new/different browser or different device to be sure you get back in.

Perhaps someone who’s done it can chime in?

I changed my e-mail address recently. I got a confirmation request sent to my new address. There's a link 'AOL Users click Here for confirmation' (AOL?). That worked fine for me. I found I was logged out of Literotica, but after logging in again, I had no problem. My e-mail provider is Proton, as for several other members I'm in contact with: Proton definitely allows e-mails through, and is not difficult to create accounts in.

Same. Also changed to proton after a scare with gmail (locked me out for no reason and couldn't recover; was able to get back in thankfully, but I'm not willing to trust it after that). Never had any issue with both for Lit messages, unless I'm getting a ton of email feedback that I'm not aware of (somehow doubt that :p ).

Do you tend to get email feedback in general? I'm curious if it's really a common thing on here.

Very rarely. I've received seven in the almost year I've been publishing, and three of them were after I won Summer Lovin. And there was a gap of almost 7 months between the last email and those three. I think some others get it more frequently, but they tend to have a lot more people reading and interacting with their stories.

In 20 years, I've gotten about 145 as Dark, 190 as Les, and 200 as RR. 117, 71, 109 submissions in the same pen name order.

So about 27 a year, and about 2 per submission.

At last track in November of last year, I had 4k comments, 17k favorites, 197k votes, and 21 million views.

Email feedback is rare.

It's good to have a point of comparison, and hearing that emails are rare is reassuring. I'm just sitting here hoping I didn't miss any feedback due to some tech issue or email provider problem. 😅

@TheTalkMan, It sounds like changing emails goes smoothly for the most part., based on several responses. Thanks to the responders for sharing!

And assword reset emails beat story feedback emails. ;)
