Regarding a recently moved thread: If political issues took over, fine. Move threads. No political parties were mentioned.

-1 point for the mod. Bad move. Wrong. Incorrect. You aren’t good at your job. And that’s a fact.

Close the thread if you want. Moving it was absolutely wrong and you should be embarrassed and ashamed.

No-one has to mention a political party to make a discussion political.

The thread asked "For those who have received the Covid vaccine, what side effects did you experience?". If you didn't receive the vaccine, for whatever reason, you should be silent on the topic. Like if a thread asked how you experience menstrual cramps, the men should mix out of it.

I was on the verge of closing it or purging all the political posts, but I didn't move it. The only other person who has the power to do that is Laurel.

So you can assume the bar for politics includes the subject matter that thread diverged into, and that comes from the top.

My feelings on the Pink Orchid event. An important cause to me that I'm sitting out because of all the clueless guys stumbling around in there asking "if I write this, is it empowering?"

If you don't know, you shouldn't be trying just to try for some extra views and some "oh, look how woke he is" The term White Knight keeps itching to slip from my fingers there, but I won't derail the thread.

I stick to the adage of better to be thought a fool than prove it.

When someone broaches travel restrictions, is that a side effect?

Too bad there aren't more that think that way. Of course I've never stepped in it by opening my yap before I've thought it through. Uh Hu.

Twitter and Facebook would be tumbleweeds if everyone there thought at all, never mind about what they're going to say.

I'm well aware I'm a trash talker, but I keep it in whatever area I'm familiar with.

Some of the wouldn't, though.

Some people don’t give a s***!

The thread was ruined by two people and two people only. No one else, as far as I can see, brought politics into the discussion.

I made a comment #6 and one of the posters I’ve not mentioned by name attacked me in #9 saying “But you (Agiel) can now look for yet another forum to contaminate with your political agenda.”

The AH MOD then asked #35 for politics not to be mentioned. As a result I wrote to her asking if, in her opinion, there was anything political about my post but haven’t, as yet, had a reply. I asked for “your opinion as to whether my comment could be construed as political in any way.”

The two posters I’ve not mentioned then made six posts between them #42 #43 #44 #47 #53 #59 all mentioning politics veering this thread further away from the OP’s original intention. As a result the thread was transferred from where it should be, the AH, to the PB which has had the effect of reduced the possibility of people who don’t use the PB from making a comment.

I would ask those two posters not to make any further comments which would get this thread shut down and ruin it completely for everyone.

For those who want a no holds barred free for all verbal brawl on politics, The politics board is over yonder. IF you have hide like a rhino, a skull as thick as a buffalo and know enough insults and cuss words to fill a dictionary. And btw, you don't need to know squat about politics. Otherwise, I'd mind my manners and stay right 'cheer.

Choose wisely :D

It is said never discuss politics and religion. I would add never have a discussion with your wife if you have a different opinion to her. I’ve found you can’t win a discussion on either of the three.

I'm not going to express an opinion on whether the moved discussion counts as "political", but for the sake of argument, let's suppose that it does.

IMHO, if the thread was going to be moved to Politics, then the time to do this was as soon as people started posting anti-vaxx bullshit that wasn't responding to the OP's question. Not "we'll allow this political bullshit, but if anybody dares to rebut the bullshit, THEN the thread is going to be moved", which is how it came across.

Have a "no politics" policy, or don't. But don't apply it in a way that rewards the first side to breach it. If you penalise pushing back on bullshit harder than you penalise the original bullshit, guess what your forum fills up with?
