Before I begin, this isn't my usual antitax bore/lame stupid stuff.

I was pointed to this article and a question arose in my head.

What came to my head is the fact that yes we do have to pay taxes no matter how hard I/we complain about it.

But that tax money if ear marked for a specitifc program, should it be allowed to be siphoned into another program.

The story above, money allocated for drug fighting was siphoned off into a new age creative wellness program.

Not that I am against drug wars or creative wellness but it didn't seem right this type of money laundering of sorts.

To answer your question, the money wasn't technically siphoned off. The Creative Wellness program was implemented under the guise of drug-prevention by curbing the people's desire for drugs. While I agree that the War On Drugs ineffectively focuses too much on the supply side and not the demand side, incense and Greek mythology isn't going to work. This is a shameful display of wasted tax dollars.

Todd, try fraud, corruption, and abuse of a government position. Not to mention a silly program.

Sorry for my poor wording, syphoned seemed applicable in my limited verbosity. you do word it much better. Thank you

You got the idea right, Todd. In the common sense meaning of the word, that money was siphoned off. The only reason she got away with it for as long as she did was because of a technicality in the process.

What's the old quote about power and corruption? At any rate since money equals power...

The quote is, "Absolute power tends to corrupt absolutely."
So you're saying that absolute money tends to corrupt absolutly.

I would phrase it more like absolute uncontrolled access to limitless monies...
