Not able to send private comments to authors

again today I was unable to send my comments to the author of the story series I had just finished reading. I continue to see this error message (paraphrased) "Cannot send private message to author." What is causing this? I have had it happen numerous times with several different authors. All of my comments have supportive and complimentary. Why am I being blocked?

The problem is not being able to Private Message, but to send private feedback via the author's not the Private Messaging but actually the Contact page on the story side, which an author can turn off, or require an email address.'

Sending you a PM proves nothing.

Yesterday, Athalia sent me three comments: one using the PM at the top of the discussion board page, one at the top of my stories page, and one in the private comment box at the end of a specific story. All three of them were received, the last two at the email address I have on file at Lit.

So it appears that the problem is at the OP's end.

I think the problem is as simple as the author’s having private feedback turned off.

Or the author or person, he is trying to contact, has the private comments turned off. Which is what I said in my first post.

You can turn off all the forms of contact if you want. I personally don't allow anonymous comments, although somehow there are a few that do get through. And via the contact page on my profile, I don't allow comments without an email address.
