Does anyone here recall a detective novel (mass market paperback) that was a NYT bestseller (I think) in the late ‘80s or early ‘90s about a case that involved a female detective (if I remember correctly), a professor, and some college students? It took place on or near a campus. I believe the author was female. I’ve checked some Patricia Cornwell titles and some info about P.D. James. No luck.
I’d love to find that novel, but as you can see, I’ve forgotten a lot about it. (Thirty years is a long time to reach back and remember a one-time read.)
