I realize it's a bit after the fact, but how many of you lost power, phone, and/or water? Got snowed in or get a day off work today? Are going crazy because your kids are home today?

Tell me! Remind me why I should be thankful I live in the south, when all I want to do is return north!

As an aside, did you know that this is the second most extensive power loss in the state of Connecticut, with Irene being the most extensive?

And where is 3113? I was expecting this thread from her.

We lucked out here, in general and us specifically. Mr. Penn just got back from taking PennBoy to the bus stop and said there were tree limbs down all over the place, some having damaged houses. We had one limb down near the sidewalk, but that's it. There's still snow on the ground, but not much; guess they must have gotten around 4". We missed it, being in NJ on Saturday, although we got lots of rain there. We did have to clear snow out of the driveway.

Going to be cold trick-or-treating tonight.

I only got a couple of inches of snow and lost my phone for a couple of hours.

Yet, DirectTV, as soon as the wind blows go out. Never, ever will I switch from Comcast again.

I only wish I could cancel without a payment penalty.

Moreover with 300 channels, there's nothing on TV, but the local channels. Go figure.

All's well in Rhode Island, got about three inches of wet snow that was mostly turned to slush by morning, and no power outages.

Thank you for reminding me of why I've stayed in Texas. Even Dallas is too far north, and if the Cowboys are going to play that bad, we'll take the Texans. We expect them to suck.

Just a dusting of snow in central Virginia. No power outages.

I checked in at the Blurt topic already.

I lost internet at the office and got the morning off, but it's back on now, and I have work to do...

You should see if Comcast offers a buy out program. I know in our area, at one time a cable company would pay up to 200.00 in early termination fees if you switched and came over to their side.

We don't sue cable, or satellite anymore. Too costly for what little we watched. We pay 7.99/mth for Netflix streaming (no DVD in the mail for this gal) and we pay 7.99/mth for Huluplus. Also one of our laptops will connect to the TV with a HDMI cable, so we are able to watch almost everything through one of those services, only we have to wait till the next day when they post. It's worth the savings.

Five inches of snow, now all melted except that in shade - power loss for about 5 hours and perhaps 30 or 40 tree limbs from 1 inch to 4 inches broken and littering my yard. We've had worse, but not in October when the sap is still up and the leaves are still on.

The worst part is that my internet modem got zapped in one of the brownouts and my generator needed a jump to start even though it was tested 3 days before the storm. I love modern life.

SINS, over there East of the River, has been without power and will be for several more days she's told. She's going to work, so hopefully she's warm there, but at home it's pretty frigid. Keep her in your thoughts. :(

Set the record for most snow (2.9") since 1869. Was out and about with Herself Saturday, more like January than October, but all over by Sunday morning. Seems like the worst is over here, but Western MA, NJ and CT really got hammered.

Oh no! I'd say about a quarter of my New England relatives are in the same situation. Hopefully she's found a place for a warm shower.

In other news, it looks like parts of Cinque Terre in Italy have been wiped out. Sigh.
