North to the Future

Normally, when there's a breeze, the bugs aren't too bad on the coast along the arctic ocean. But ya... You can't count on the wind.

80 years ago, today

"Construction of the Alaska Highway officially began eighty years ago today, March 11, 1942 with 250,000 tons of materials and 10,000 soldiers.
How did they do it? With a lot of heavy equipment! The initial shipments of construction equipment came by boat into the port of Valdez and by air to the various Northwest Staging Route airfields.
These shipments included 174 steam shovels, 374 blade graders, 904 tractors and more than 5,000 trucks. (THAT’S A LOT OF TRUCKS!) There were also countless bulldozers, snowplows, cranes and generators.

When you get up in the morning and the light is hurt your head
The first thing you do when you get up out of bed
Is hit that streets a-runnin' and try to beat the masses
And go get yourself some cheap sunglasses
