..WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 1 PM AKDT FRIDAY FOR THE ANCHORAGE HILLSIDE AND SOUTH FORK EAGLE RIVER... * WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulation of 6 to 12 inches. * WHERE...Anchorage Hillside and South Fork Eagle River. * WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 1 PM AKDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Wet snow will develop across the Anchorage Hillside and higher elevations of Eagle River this evening and continue through Friday afternoon. Rain or a rain/snow mix is expected for lower elevations across the Anchorage Bowl this evening, changing to all snow overnight with heavier snowfall rates possible around the morning commute. Wet snow is expected to continue across the lower elevations through Friday morning before changing back to rain or a rain/snow mix by Friday afternoon. 2 to 6 inches of wet snow is possible for east Anchorage, Eagle River, and along the Glenn Highway. 1 to 3 inches is possible across west Anchorage.
 
When I was a kid I saw a boat about 2/3 that size let go at the hitch. It was really something, kept going down the road, after a few hundred yards it veered over the curb straight into the side of a house. Nobody hurt but the boat never made it back in the water.

But, I'd bet he sure wishes he'd of gone 5mph slower and/or used a few more straps to tie that boat to the trailer.

My dad's 26'er came off the hitch at an intersection in Anchorage at an extremely slow speed. Safety chains held. He was able to use the front trailer jack to get it back onto the hitch. He told me that someone had pulled the safety pin and popped the hitch open. I've always wondered if that someone was the guy that hitched the trailer up. I would of been on that trip, but I was at school in CA.
 
Contrary to what one would expect in the desert, in my youth Arizona had the highest per capita number of boats in the nation. I was 16-17 towing the family boat and the right rear tire suffered a tread seperation and locked up the wheel. Van spun out, I recovered from the slide thanks to the Duke Boys training course. Cracked the whip, the boat stayed hitched, the tongue twisted and the boat ate the pavement upside down.

Ended up with a van and boat in matching livery after repairs.
