Republic RC-3 Seabee. It's an amphibious aircraft and can land on water. Being lucky and having a highway right there meant they had double the choices on where to drop in for an emergency pit stop.

Ugly dam plane though, like most amphibs.

But, like most things made by Republic, it's a stout ship. Even took out a powerline on the landing without damage to the plane.

I'm not sure that a power line is going to be much worse than the pylons at the Red Bull air races if you hit one with a wing. Probably one hell of a nasty grab and jerk on the airframe for a second, but after that?

It'll still need a spar inspection anyway, assuming the wing is what clipped the power line.
