North to the Future

Not at all ready for that sort of thing (and too old, truth be told) but I could get into that. It's pure grit. Head down, legs pumping, just don't stop, stay out of my way.

Only that looks really hard. There was a time when I would swim 200 laps just to prove I could do it, but that looks a lot harder than swimming. Wow. Do you know if that's on video anywhere? I'll go look. I'd like to watch part of that.

Found the 2019 race. The downhill looks almost more intense than the uphill. I think Perg once posted about this race. I remember getting excited about it then too.

It's a hoot of a race. Billed as the world's toughest 5k.

If you show up in Seward in summer, you can hike the trail. And, you can go father up the ridge. It's a beautiful hike.

The downhill slide to winter starts.

I had a great aunt who always complained on the 4th of July that summer was now over. Winter was on the way. She hated the cold but even as a kid I always thought that was kind of silly. This was in Illinois. The hottest, most humid months are July and August. Even September can have scorcher weeks, and the AC running in October isn't unheard of.

In Alaska, I imagine the slide to winter is a bit quicker than it is here.

We have two more weeks to the warmest time of the year. It's that seasonal lag thing...
