Do you ever have one of those days...or a row of those days, but you're not sure just how many days it is or has been because you're so tired and exhausted that you just can't remember anything beyond the last five minutes and even that is a stretch?
Have you ever called your doctor to tell them that you NEED to get in to see someone because your throat hurts so bad that even the thought of swallowing, talking, breathing brings tears to your eyes, and your ears are ringing painfully, but are told that they're sorry they don't take same day appointments and how does 2-3 days from now sound?
Has your child's teacher, the professional that she is supposed to be, ever caused you to question your abilities as a parent, caused you to doubt that you've been the best the you can be when everything she says about your child ends in 'but...', that she's done everything she can do, tried everything she knows to try, in the four weeks that school has been in session and your child just isn't progressing? And yet, both you and she know that your child's intelligence and compassion could run rings around anyone else's in the class?
Have you ever wanted to say 'Frankly world, I don't give a damn' and slam the door to your room, locking yourself away, but you can't because there are still some parts and pieces of your heart and soul and mind that haven't yet been used? Because there's still more for you to do for the other people in your life?
Smiles...
A hot shower washes away some of the tiredness. A cup of hot tea eases the throat pain. A talk with family and friends and a most treasured smile from your child, reassures you that you are and have been and always will be the best parent and that there is nothing wrong (though there is a Dr's appointment to ensure that). And you give of yourself because it is who you are, and little by little you are revived, rejuvenated and you keep going...and going...and going...and you are reminded that those smiles and happiness' from others is worth it...
I hope you all have a blessed and blissful Thursday. And thank you...
