Non-religious now tied with Catholics and evangelicals in the United States: survey

It matters because eventually the pervasive cancer on the body politic that is religion may be eradicated.

You and your fellow white trasher who recently burned down 3 Baptist churches in Alabama have that in common.

Why do you and haters like RoryN despise black folks practicing their faith in peace?

Be a while before that. Hell even the article itself said that the "nones" are a highly diverse group of people. Just because they have rejected organised religion does not mean they are all non-believers.

"Religious nones," as they are called by researchers, are a diverse group made up of atheists, agnostics, the spiritual, and those who are no specific organized religion in particular. A rejection of organized religion is the common thread they share.

Besides, if you lump all who do practice a formal religion in the same manner that they combined those in the "None" category, organised religion still holds 46% of the populace.

The headline is disingenuous at best.

The election of Donald Trump has exposed the Evangelical Right for what they are: shrill moral scolds attempting to force their religion upon others by force of law. (what BotanyBoy falsely calls "core Murican values").

The best part is the Evangelical Right having an absolute meltdown about Mayor Pete. He is an existential threat to their existence: one simply be homosexual and call himself a Christian

Christians are a highly diverse group too. Organized religion is an oxymoron.

Yup. The survey results prove blatant hypocrisy doesn't help sell one's belief system.

Just can’t stop lying about me can you?

Scared to keep calling me a gook while accusing me of being a white nationalist?

Core American values are outlined in those old rag documents you hate and think need to be tossed aside for newer better ideas...like that extra fresh Trotsky guy. Us real Americans however call them our founding documents and take the liberal ideas they contain at least semi seriously. Don’t worry though, it’s all racist shit you clearly never need to read up on or give any thought to comrade.

We all know you’re against the ideas contained in those documents....you make it clear nearly every day here how much of an oath breaker you are.

they've a ways to go yet, but they are moving in the right direction.

everyone should be free to believe whatever they want, faith-wise, so long as they keep it as personally-held beliefs that harm no-one else, don't try to force others to comply with their beliefs, and keep the whole of religion out of schools and politics except for education about beliefs, historically.

it weirded me out, over here, to see religion so upfront in the reception rooms of hospitals, doctors, and dentists!

Many people have been turned off with place of worship politics and would rather not have a middle man interfering with their faith.

lol.
The way you turned it on them.

This. The United Methodist Church wasn't a fundamentalist institution, but in February it officially tightened down on LGBT issues, using extrapolated references in a socially archaic, patriarchal, internally inconsistent foundation document (the Bible) to ram through personal discriminatory prejudice. I formally withdrew from the UCM this week. My wallet and I are hanging loose from institutional religion now.

As opposed to the tens of thousands of Catholic priests who have been raping children for the past 1,000 or so years.

Evangelicals - yes.

But most hispanics in the States and many Black immigrants are devout Catholics.
It's no longer the religion of White colonialism.

And that's the problem. The sword of colonialism can't be held over these people's heads.

As you stated, hispanics and Black immigrants are Catholic, these people can't hold up the flag of Christianity as their rallying cry so instead, they turn to the tried and true, what color is their skin and where do they come from?

These are the same people who this week tried various methods to downplay and mitigate Dr. Katie Bouman's success on imaging a black hole. They even put up fake memes about this one white guy did almost all the work to claim superiority.

Except the white guy told them to fuck off because of their lies and btw, he's gay to boot. So they played themselves.

Same here. "We're a Christian nation!" (the lie) except for these people because of the color of their skin.

You think Muslims don't have such abherations?

There is the potential for sexual abuse in any patriarchal religion in general, the Catholic church takes things a step further by insisting that priests remain celibate.

As an institution, the Catholic church seems determined to coverup the sexual abuses foisted upon minors. They have a long documented history of doing so.

I'm no authority on the Islamic religion, but I believe Indian Muslims can have multiple wives and clergy can marry. (and if, G-d forbid, I'm mistaken, I'm sure your "friend" Que will let me know the error of my ways, that's what he does).
