prolly wouldn't work for me then, I have a fluvle. The waterfall filters just weren't powerful enough, I was changing the filter every other day, with the fluvle it's down to once a month and I can wash it out and that makes it last another week or two if I really need to. besides I can't keep the water line high enough to run one, the turtles try to escape *giggles*

You don't have the right kind of filter then :p Holly works at a petsupply store, so that's how we get all our stuff like that. What we have isn't a true waterfall, but the turtles and the newt like it, so we leave it. I'll have to get back to you on what type of filter it is - but we keep our tank less than 1/2 full (free tanks typically aren't perfect ... this one is no exception - at anything more than 1/2 full, the sides decide to bow out dangerously because the support bar at the top is broken). The only thing is that after we take the cartrige out and wash it/replace it and are ready to restart it, is that we have to prime the pump by taking a cup and pouring water directly into the resevoir for the pump. Once you do that, it runs just fine and we have a nice little waterfall for the turtles to play in.

LOL You're right. It's a 10-15 gallon filter and the tank the turtles are in is a 20 that's kept about 3/4 full (higher than that they start to climb out like I said) so I thought it'd be fine. Nope, it didn't like being that low on water with all the gunk the turtles caused. Now it's in the 10 gallon with my feeder guppies and it's fine even when I forget to put more water in the tank and it gets about 4 inches shy of the top. The 50 set up I'm looking at has a waterfall filter, but I think it's not going to be enough on it's own. I had to move up from the 20 gallon fluv to the 50 gallon one for the tank they're in now. My turtles are just very messy I think.

Ronin

He ended up with this name not after masterless Samurai but because 'Ronin' 浪人 literally means wave man - one who is tossed about, like a wave in the sea.

YESSSS - LOVE the name!!! 'chun gong' 春宫 means erotica (in Mandarin). That's a great way to pick a name - from it's true meaning. Love that (Sorry, off topic...)

Oh and I'm getting pics of my kitties together. I need to resize them so that the files aren't too big - pixels and k.

Dommy

Named because it moved in , surveyed the apartment, approved , seemed most self assured then slept on my hair the first night as if it had always been there......grrrrr

I like cats . 'Nezumi' the one we had before 'Dommy' I taught to fetch. This cat I decided to teach to read instead. It was a long and painful journey but its kind a reward in itself now I see him out there choosing his own literature ........smiles

( see if I can get a better picture today if he lets me )

He's a cutie and so smart too!

I have fish too but not admitting to what I have because it's not very smart lol. Let's just say that most african cichlid owners would think I'm crazy

It's a great breed isn't it? He's so sweet and gentle, a bit on the destructive side but that's okay. I love him anyways

Thanks Miss :rose:Fury:rose:.....I'll admit I was a little concerned at first when Dommy was sprung reading Leopold's work but hey as Evil Geoff Sir says "what ever floats your boat".

Such beautiful pets in this thread... The BDSM community has fine taste in furry friends ;)

I guess I should say that I also have two cats... By proxy at least since they are my girlfriend's. Both are wild boys since their parents were feral. More destructive than my huge dog... We shall see what happens when they meet my dog lol

Beatiful pets in this thread , I haven't any at the moment but I had two dogs when younger an Epagneul Breton and a Maremma sheepdog . :)

Aww what a lot of cuties in this thread!
My Layla:

She was one of the cats at the shelter in Japan, had come from an abusive household (the other cat from the same household had perminant brain damage due to the abuse). Was frightened of men and loud noises.

Now, two years later, she's a love whore. Still uppity, talks back to me (literally) and has half the dogs in my apartment complex terrified, despite the fact she's declawed.

Love her to death. Only cat I know that likes Eric Clapton and Metalica.

I have to share this

I just got messaged on another site where I have a profile. If anyone is familiar with OKCupid, that's where it is - I got hooked on the silly personality quizes they have there LOL

So, yeah, anyway ... I'm posting it here, because in the profile there, I have pictures of us holding our critters (or dancing with them, since in one pic, I'm dancing with Chaos), and this is this guy's opinion of it ... *snickers* The message is titled "just so you know"

I'm not buying the whole Dominant thing, just because of the cute cats you have in your profile. Maybe you are, but then again maybe I'm not the only one who sees it that way, so I thought I'd let you know. For some reason, OKCupid keeps displaying the really smudgy one as a thumbnail in my search results.

Though I did LMAO at your screen name. Keep workin' on it, and good luck.

As if, a- having pets and loving them makes either of us less dominant
and b- we give a shit about his closed-minded view of dominance.

Just thought I'd share my 'chuckle-head of the day' message with y'all.

Karen
