the captians wench said:prolly wouldn't work for me then, I have a fluvle. The waterfall filters just weren't powerful enough, I was changing the filter every other day, with the fluvle it's down to once a month and I can wash it out and that makes it last another week or two if I really need to. besides I can't keep the water line high enough to run one, the turtles try to escape *giggles*
You don't have the right kind of filter then
Holly works at a petsupply store, so that's how we get all our stuff like that. What we have isn't a true waterfall, but the turtles and the newt like it, so we leave it. I'll have to get back to you on what type of filter it is - but we keep our tank less than 1/2 full (free tanks typically aren't perfect ... this one is no exception - at anything more than 1/2 full, the sides decide to bow out dangerously because the support bar at the top is broken). The only thing is that after we take the cartrige out and wash it/replace it and are ready to restart it, is that we have to prime the pump by taking a cup and pouring water directly into the resevoir for the pump. Once you do that, it runs just fine and we have a nice little waterfall for the turtles to play in.
