Non-Consensual

Now, we've all been a bit on edge lately but the tone of her post was flirtatious, friendly and in no way criticizing. I'll admit I might have misread her post but isn't it possible you two misunderstood it?
When have you ever seen Morwen act rude or insult another poster? At this time, she has 78 posts under her belt - would she just now begin to show her 'true colors'?
Didn't her first post strike you as intelligent (though conservative to your tastes perhaps)? Did she sound like a person who'd attack someone just for flirting?

I'm not the type to rush into a fight and shout 'Pease, love and harmony.' This time, however, I feel a bit of hostility has creeped into the air over nothing.
Then again, I could be wrong.

I reread the post too. You're right I think- it wasn't meant to be rude or to insult anyone. It had a smilie face and was written to be civil. Maybe the problem is that we sometimes read things the way we expect them to be, not the way they actually are. Mindsets right now are on the negative side.

I reread the posts too. My response to the original post was as reasoned as I was able to manage. The topic of censorship goes to the heart of things that I deeply believe in. If one reads about what I spent 8 years of my life doing, it would be apparent, I think, why I reacted to a flippant response. The goofing around that Siren and I did in no way detracted from the seriousness of the post and the replies. We are supposed to have fun too, aren't we...?

The use of :):) does not mitigate a tone or the use of words like gratuitous. I could go on, but I suspect we have beaten the subject to death.

<----pointing to his signature block, hoisting a flag of truce.....lets all kiss and make up.

Softly said, "The story plot that is most purchased by females, in paper back books, is;

Sea Captain kidnaps a woman that he thinks is beautiful. Takes her to his ship. He rapes her several times. They become lovers during a voyage to his home port. He takes her to his plantation. They marry and live happily ever after."

That was true in the late seventies when the romance genre really took off. Rosemary Rogers started it with the first "bodice-ripper." Romance is still the largest selling genre in publishing today.

Unfortunately, that misconception (that romances involve the heroine is taken by force) is no longer the case. Ask any avid romance reader. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that you would have to look very hard in the romance section to find ANY book in which that happened. Yes, the genre started out like that, and it resonated with many women, but these days, the preference is for spunkier heroines, not those portrayed as victims. The romance industry is trying very hard to divorce themselves from that early label. That's one of the reasons you find more and more bookcovers that do not display a couple groping each other. (This is still a debate within the romance industry. Many people like the "clinch" covers.)

As for free speech, I agree with Siren and Thor's Hammer that we can't censor here or anywhere. I'm sorry, Morwen. Although I understand your position (raping old ladies disgusts me too), I don't think banning those posts is the answer. I DO see a danger in people beginning to think that, because other people are willing to roleplay such scenarios with them, that they might be into it in real life too. Most of us have a solid enough grip on reality to be able to distinguish reality from fantasy, but there are those who don't. But, those people will have to be dealt with in a different arena and with different methods than censorship.

Thank you, Patryn, for the plug on my story. How much do I owe you again?

I should point out that not permitting a certain story line to proceed in a Literotica Role Playing Forum is in no way infringing upon anyone's free speech rights as guaraneteed by the Constitution. The right to speak freely does have limits -- you can't shout "fire" in a theatre is the common example (inciting riot). Unlawful assembly is another free speech is lawfully curtailed. The right to free speech also does not give you the right to walk into someone's house or place of business and spout your unwelcome views, nor can you create an unlicensed radio station to say anything you want.

In the case of Literotica Laurel is under no obligation to provide a platform for someone else's point of view, just as a newspaper is under no obligation to print opposing editorials and a school is under no obligation to permit the teaching of Creationism as a science. If Laurel provides a free web site for members she is completely within her rights to put up any restraint she wants. She is entirely within her rights to say that "No one can post a story featuring sex with minors." She can make a rule that says "No story shall contain the letter 'z'." if she wants. It's her space, not publicly owned.

In other words, you are still free to speak about anything you want. Laurel's rules are in no way stopping you. There is no law that says you must have free speech and other people must provide platforms for you.

So, go ahead. Celebrate your free speech. Start your own web site. Yes, there are laws about child pornography that curtail, again, freedom of speech. Go ahead and start your web site and deal with that.

But, if you think Laurel must be forced to allow you to post underage stories on her free site then the only rights that will be curtailed are hers.

I'm with Siren!

All the way.

Although I personally have difficulty with incest, pedophilia, bestiality and even the role playing board, or even real sexual role playing. I'd hate to pretend to be a Mail Man or something, don't see what gets one off.

I simply tend to avoid that stuff - occasionally peeing in - just to keep myself abreast of all the wide variety of folks out there and what makes them tick.

Me? I like sex to be fairly "real" and I guess conservative too - at least compared to the real wild stuff.

But censorship is a very tricky beast - as the Supreme Court would attest, I'm certain.

Censorship is a silent scream from the ignorantly fearful. From a bunch of frightened Ostrich's, heads in the sand, hoping for some kind of divine intervention and protection. Censorship is playing God.

No it isn't. Censorship is not allowing Barney to fuck any of the little kids in his purple playground. Censorship is moderating objectionable language, viloence and graphic sex on television where children can be reasonable expected to hear or see it while flipping to the Discovery Channel. Censorship is not permitting the KKK to sponsor an ABC sit-com called "Who's Dat Nigger?" Censorship is not the playing God, it's responsible and prudent legislation. But, as with any power, it's abuse of power that is tantamount to "playing God."

No you're wrong -

Let the parents and the economy censor - naturally - not pussy ass politicians, dick sucked by conservative jesus freaks too affraid of their own shadows to swallow cum.

Yeah -

Frightened Jesus Freaks. Cowering and paranoid. Locked in their homes full of non-pagan icons. Homes full of white skinned Jesus dolls. Writing frantic letters to old white skinned, old fart politicians - hiding under their desks on Capitol Hill, whacking their puds to 9x10 facials of Monica - jealous.

Wonder what they'd think of my big, chocolate colored, ten inch Jesus dildo? Slick with KY and conservatively named - Big Fuckin' Jesus.
