This idea has been used before but I'd like to see a bit of a different take on it.
Short version: a planet of only women has a male visitor
Longer version:
In the distant future, a ship from an earth colony heads back along the path their ancestors travelled. To its surprise, it picks up another ship of alien origin that is using a similar hailing frequency. Conversation is started and while there are dialect differences, the aliens know the crew's language. The colony ship sends a party over and finds out that the aliens are all human women.
The aliens explain that they are descended from a colony ship that was run by a corrupt cabal who found a system that was habitable far earlier than the planned destination for humanity and wanted to take a ship full of women with them to create a society where they were diefied. However, something went wrong and the cabal were all killed, and the women had to use artificial methods for reproduction but couldn't create men since they didn't have any saved material.
The crew gets invited to visit their worlds but the aliens make a huge pint of wanting the male member/s coming planet side.
So the story would be the crew's perspective as they toured worlds that have spent thousands of years with only one sex. So my question is, what would be the most interesting way to take the story?
