While BO won last nights debate on 'points', points based more on forcefulness than substance, it appears that he lost the series.

Two post debate focus groups made of of undecideds decided on Romney 3:1. That is not the way to win a debate.

The biggest mistake by a candidate in the debate? It was at the end when Obama went after Romney about the "liquidation" of the auto companies. The mistake was his strident, "Look at the record" declaration. (I thought it was funny that he looked at ole Bob then as if Bob were stupid enough to whip out a transcript.) "Look it up, look it up." Well Barry, more than a few did and you were full of shit Barry. That was a really terrible ploy to put into action at the end of the debate. Perhaps you thought you had to throw a bone to the congenitally stupid. But those folks were going to vote for you anyway. I guess that it didn't cross your mind that the 'undecideds' were going to be looking for, and into, just such bones the candidates would be throwing to the crowd.

Barry may have slowed Mitts momentum, and only time will tell if even that occurred, but he sure as hell didn't freeze it in it's tracks let alone reverse it.

So no KO for BO.

Are you kidding? There was a nearly cartoonish KO on our Navy. Obama should have literally called for a foot ball spiked it and danced around the stage.

What, the "Bayonets and horses" quip? Sounded clever but was about as abysmally stupid a statement I've heard by a sitting president in my entire life. It's something an uninformed challenger would make. But you're correct in the assessment that it'll play to the stupid.

Obama won on rhetoric, but in doing so came across as a challenger losing in the polls. The shear number of lies he told show that clearly.

We will see where in lands in a few days.

Focus groups said what?! Where did you pull those numbers from? Your ass? Fox News' "operative" Frank Luntz ran a group and they were unswayed, which means...Romney DID NOT WIN by 3:1!! http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/debate-undecided-voters-/2012/10/12/id/459743

None of these debate shenanigans will matter once Ish airs his killer anti-Obama ad, right, Ish?

Might I recommend Googling Bushisms if you enjoy stupid?

I mentioned this the other day, but there hasn't actually been any "momentum" for Romney since the polls two weekends ago showed it's basically become a tie race, with Obama maintaining a smaller but persistent lead in the projected Electoral College. Individual polls have gone slightly back and forth, but the big picture hasn't changed. The current attempt to create a bandwagon effect for Romney is amusing, but it isn't justified by the data.

Also amusing: the media insistence that last night's debate was a tie and thus not significant, or even a Romney win-for-not-losing. The CBS poll of undecideds, the same poll that helped drive the media narrative that the first debate was a blowout, showed an even bigger margin for Obama this time than for Romney on 10/3.

I don't know that it's going to mean a whole lot, but the idea that Romney actually came out of last night stronger is silly. The guy was sweating up a storm and sounded weaselly, and viewers noticed.

Romney handlers are clearly trying to tamp down turnout by claiming a lead. Interesting strategy, but it might just drive more lukewarm Dems to the polls. We will see soon enough.

re the auto industry bailout

Romney: "I said they need – these companies need to go through a managed bankruptcy. And in that process, they can get government help and government guarantees, but they need to go through bankruptcy to get rid of excess cost and the debt burden that they’d – they’d built up.”

As Romney was starting his next sentence, Obama cut across him, saying, “Gov. Romney, that’s not what you said.”

That is INDEED what Romeny said:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/19/opinion/19romney.html?_r=2&:

"The federal government should provide guarantees for post-bankruptcy financing and assure car buyers that their warranties are not at risk."

The take-aways from last night's debate:

Romney would do everything The President has already done--but he would provide real leadership doing those same things, because he knows how to do those things.

Obama knows how to be snarky if that's what it takes to have a conversation with Governor Etch-a-Sketch.

For everyone's sake just go Vote

Do it early if you can. Get it out of your system, and let's move on.

But the problem was...NO private investor, NO vulture capitalist, was willing to ASSIST, to help MANANGE the bankruptcy!! Not even his precious Bain Capital!!

He knew no one would help, therefore, allowing Detroit to FAIL!!!

The debates are fun and interesting for people who are smart enough to understand the tissues but the teaparty assholes who carry misspelled signs don't get it and the working poor are too busy to know how badly they're being screwed.

re the Apology Tour

How can Obama actually deny the Apology Tour when all of America witnessed him bowing at the waist to EVERYONE EVERYWHERE ... it was fucking embarrassing.

Seriously, you and your Tea Party undereducated friends must stop this "Apology Tour" garbage. If anyone needs to apologize, it's Romney..

Insulting Israel while there
Insulting England while there
Insulting Poles while in Poland....

Insulting educated people with his LACK of knowledge that Syria and Iran are NOT border nations!!!!

Desicive win but yeah, nobody but the naive are expecting huge poll surges for Obama after this debate.

Mitt got a big bounce from the first debate partly because he finally shook the android image and partly because Obama suuuuuucked. The other debates didn't really deal any surprises. Mitt was still pretty OK and Obama was slightly better. Also, the closer to election the less undecideds there are to snag. Obama chose the absolute worse timing to bomb.

So while we saw narrow to clear wins for Obama/Biden in the last three debates, the damage (if you're a Dem) was already done. Romney's first debate made him viable as POTUS in the minds of the key demographic "innatentive independents". In a close-ish race like this, that was enough.

He proved his point. Romney thinks assessing the strength of the military is bean counting. Turns out he's wrong and looked dumb as hell.

Exactly. It's as if Romney thinks the number of ships equals the ability of those ships to project military power.

Romney came out of that looking like he didn't know a damn thing about foreign policy. How much that matters to voters remains to be seen, but no amount of spin will change it.

LOL, so you thought that was a worse mistake than Mitt thinking Iran needs Syria because they are "landlocked?"

One second...

Bwahahahahaha! :D
