No Comment (political)

I was not aware of that. I suppose it is to offset Labor Day, although that is not such a big deal after the collapse of the Soviet Unioin. I suppose it's akin to some celebrating "Indigenous Person 's day" on the date most people call Columbus Day.

Ir's mid-afternoon but I will go fly the flag.

We always fly the flag.

I love my country.

(Bush can go pee up a rope, however.)

Labour Day had something to do with the Soviet Union?

In the US, Labor Day is the first Monday in Sept. In most of the world, it is May 1, which is also called May Day. That used to be the principle national holiday of the USSR and it still is of other Communist nations. (Commie preverts!)

Here is a reference, if you want one:

I believe "Loyalty Day" was established in the middle of the Cold War (1958) as a counter to what many perceived as the Communist domination of traditional May Day celebrations.

What Box said. Almost. Labour Day as in May 1 is a socialist invention, a national holiday designed to raise political awareness among the "working class". A day off to support your party or ideology in voice and person, to get on a soapbox and have your say, to protest injustices and promote what's good. Perhaps a little outdated, and for the morepart of it's history used as a one-sided political tool, but the idea of getting the common man interrested and engaged in politics, and to have a special day celebrating that, I think is an admirable thing.

This "Loyality Day" thingy seems to be the antithesis to that. Just the name itself suggest that there will be no soapboxes.

Actually, it goes back MUCH further than that:

Is Loyalty Day a paid holiday? If I were an American I'd spend the day being loyal to Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, and Sam Adams. :)

It still seems like a very sick piss-take. That's all I'm saying.

I'd like establish a new holiday....

The Holiday Weekend

The third saturday and sunday of every month will now be known as

"Lick My Clit" Saturday
"Suck My Dick" Sunday

For obvious reasons, sucking the dick has to come after licking the clit.
