Correctives to racism are not racist, and a color-blind approach wouldn't work.

I should have thought that point settled decades ago. Why does it keep popping up here?

It's not "corrective" if it does what the error did first. And it does. It judges people based on skin color, sex, etc.

It's totally wrong, not to mention unconstitutional.

Always full of contrary bullshit.

I think you all know why a color-blind approach would not correct the social outcomes of long-term racism.

No approach corrects the outcomes....equity is a utopian fantasy that no amount of brutality has been able to achieve.

"Correct the social outcomes of long-term racism." is just the lie you tell yourself so you don't feel bad about being a racist who supports institutionalized racism.

It's just a fancy way of saying "It's ok when WE do it!!" :D ........ it's not.

Why not? The Japanese were treated horribly when they came here, discriminated against and tossed into camps in the 1940s...today they are succeeding far beyond the white population, all without AA.

A lot of Koreans came here in the 50's, back when there were actual white privileges.

We're one of the highest earning ethnic groups in the country and some years THE highest.

No punishing whitey for being white needed, in fact our success makes us "white adjacent" according to lefty bigots.....which is just about the most asinine racist bullshit fabricated by people who claim to be "anti-racist". :D

Yep. I have a Korean frat brother who was a brilliant student, a great athlete and President of the house who is now head of a surgical department at Harvard Medical School. Try as we might, our white supremacy didn't seem to work on him.

I feel like I know what his childhood was like ....

Not when it's used correctly. It's not about quotas or about giving anyone a free pass, it's about recognizing the effect oppression has had and taking that into consideration.

The level of self contradiction and nonsensical mental gymnastics in this is actually kind of impressive.

Doesn't make any sense but WOW. :D

I have BoBo on ignore, but I'd be willing to bet that post quoted mine and responded "What oppression?"

Nah he skipped his usual "Play Defense! PLAY DEFENSE DAMMIT!" and went right to his finisher "I win! I WIN!'

Because the USA is full of racists who feel any corrective measures are favoring one group over another or all others. They also feel they are entitled (white privilege) so they believe giving to one group is taking something away from them.

They are wrong on all counts.

And the way you take that into account is you look at the person's skin color and then either boost his chances of admission/hiring/awarding of contract or diminish them.

It's racism, straight up.

First you have to prove that "long term racism" actually exist, other than in your mind.

I've really ramped up my oppression on Asians lately, but dammit, they just keep on turning into wealthy, successful Americans despite my strenuous efforts to exert my white privilege and a total lack of overweening leftist programs to "help" them. What the hell is wrong with those people?
