The saddest thing is is that one of the things that made him such a fantastic song writer is the immense pain he carried around with him

songs like this or "All Apologies" or "Dumb" or, well, pick any Nirvana song are so potent because the pain is so genuine and the hurt and anger so powerful.

April 5th 1994 was a sad day but not an unexpected one.

Totally true. I read a book about that once...I think it was called something like "Churchill's Black Dog, Kafka's Mice"...that dealt with the relationship between genius and mental illnesses such as depression and paranoia. I didn't agree with the whole argument - there are plenty of mentally ill idiots in the world - but it's something to chew on.
