Yes I knows its been done a z + x=illion times but I want recent info ;)

I think I have finally decided to get mine done..or at least one done. So naturally I have more questions though I have heard a hundred stories already.

Those of you with them done:

What was the pain scale like from 0-10? How long was the healing process? Any problems with cleaning? Any other problems? If you have had children since, was there a problem with breast feeding? Does anyone know the percentage of breasts feeding problems with nipple piercings?

Those with piercings AND tattoos:

What was the pain scale compared to your Tats? (I have two so that'll help me decide as well)

What are your views regarding piercings? I want my tongue done but I don't think I can go that long with a swollen tongue not able to talk, eat certain things and well I just don't think I could do it. My belly button will never be pierced due to the fact I have had stitches there once before and do not care for anything else. I have my ears done but intend to add onto the 4 holes in each later on...

My nipples are very sensative as it it, and I honestly dont know if I could handle it, but I'm willing to try....

OH, I almost forget....

What is the price range for it?

Ya had to know I was gonna post :p

I paid like $60 for both, got a deal cuz I did them at the same time.. otherwise it would have been $40 for 1.

The pain hurt like mutha fucking hell.. while the needle passed through.. but I swear to all that be, it doesn't hurt after the ring, or barbell, is in place.

I wore no shirt, or at least no bra for about a week while it quit being so tender. And I didn't bleed at all. It healed totally within 2 months.. and there was no infection at all, just a little bit of crusties.. which I still get from time to time when they've bumped into something.

Do not use Neosporin, or the like, because it trys and make the 'wound' heal and close up. I only used the orange antibacterial Dial when soaping them up for the first few months.. no there is this Dr. Bonner Castile soap that's out that my new piercer recommends, but now I just use my regular soap. She also doesn't recommend turning the jewelry.. like my old piercers did. I trust this chick, she comes highly recommended.

As for the pain level.. yeah it hurts.. I don't do it to get off on the pain, but some people do it for the endorphin rush. I do it because each piercing signifies something special I've accomplished or been though in my life. Enduring the pain makes me stronger.. like 'if I can go through that, I can handle just about anything.' But that's me. :)

I say get them both done.. a little bit 'o pain is worth extra-suckle worthy boobies :D

Oh yeah.. when you go to get it done, and they mark your nip(s) make abso-fucking-lutely sure that they do it straight. I went to a crappy piercer and I didn't get a good looksee when she marked them.. and now, my barbells don't go straight across, they're kinda lopsided.. you don't notice at all with CBR's though.

Well, it's a big deal to me

(I wish I was at my home computer, I'd post a pic to show ya what I mean)

Damn..I wonder if I can get a friend to pay half lol...I'm highly considering it though hehe

Me again

lol

When they pierce your nipple, make sure they do it at the base, close to the aereola... not halfway between the base and the tip.

Ok thanks so much Lickerish..I appreciate you giving me info :)

prices

I think the price of a peircing depends on where you get it done. Most good places will be $40-$55. And it hurt for the first few days. Not as bad as my nose though! It's a peice of cake! GOOD LUCK!

Hurt 10x's wores then a tattoo

In total healing time 6 months to heal all the way through just use a mild antimicrobile soap Dial makes a few body washes that work good.

Hey chiquita! Long time no see :) I got mine originally done a bit over a year ago, but the memory is still fresh...lessee here:

Heh, the pain scale...funny to be answering instead of asking that question. I honestly don't know if I would describe the sensation of getting them done was pain. I know I tried to put it into words ages ago here, but am too tired to go find it. It was a heated sensation, and it almost felt like every pore became hypersensitive as he was drawing the needles out and inserting the rings. It was a rather sensual/exciting experience for me personally, but I am in a headspace I can't really explain when I get any body mod done. It was over so quickly, I don't know that I could even compare it to the sensation when I have been getting inkwork done, as those have taken 1-3 hours. My nipples/breasts were a bit sore and achey the next day though, an over the counter antiinflammatory like motrin or aleve can be your friend there!

They say the healing process can take up to 6 months easily. It's not like an outside wound where it's easy to heal over, it has to build healed skin all the way along the insides of the tunnelled hole you now have in you :) That's why it takes longer if they are roughed with when healing, or get snagged, things like that. When washing them, make sure any crusting is well-moistened and you fleck it off before turning/sliding your piercing back and forth to clean inside. That crusting can undo some of that healing if it's pulled through. As soon as mine were well-healed, I went in to have them stretched up to a 12 gauge (which did hurt, actually! Smarted quite a bit), so I set myself back and had to heal almost all over again. Both times, I preferred to sleep with a bra on while healing (especially since I sleep on my stomach most of the time), and tightly double-bra whenever I go running.

I had no problems with cleaning. Pretty much every shop will have their "goo of choice" that they recommend for use the first few days after healing. I've heard a million different opinions on that one. Just remember, if you do use an ointment like neosporin, that it should only be used for a few days before discontinued because it prohibits healing. You want to stay away from strong or scented soaps too, like Irish Spring.

As far as breastfeeding bit, as far as all the informal research I could find when I was a BF educator was that they didn't find any significant statistics saying it inhibited the ability. Obviously, if you were to get some horrendous infection that affected a large portion of the breast, that's one thing. But a normal piercing shouldn't. The piercing should certainly be taken out while feeding to prevent the possibility of it coming off and being swallowed though!
Here's just one link I found regarding this, I believe they have other references on it:

Other random tidbits:
Once my right ring migrated out, I did a lot of research on the subject. It seems to be a more common place to migrate some, so you may want them to be pierced fairly far back, even if you have very stand-out nipples. I also read from a few 'expert opinions' that rings have a higher tendency to migrate than barbells, just something to think about. I think it has more to do with the nature of the pointy-out part and the jostling this way and that, lol.

I personally enjoy looking at body mod of most kinds. I like them for the decorative factor, for the self-expression it means to who does it. Some I like a lot more than others, but that's just me. People have tons of different reasons for it, and it's not always understood. No matter what you get done, all I can say is STICK to the instructed regimen while it's healing! It may suck (or not suck, haha!) to have to refrain from certain fun activities while one is healing, but I think it's worth it when you compare the problems that can happen when you don't take care of it as recommended. I have taken care of a few people that had to be admitted for massive infection/injury related to a few different piercings, but every one of them was not good about following their post-care instructions. Always call your piercist if you have anything you are concerned about or want clarification on!

Hrm, I am trying to think how much I paid. I think mine was about $60 for both done plus jewelry.

Bleh, I've written a novel. Hope you're having a good day hun, and I dig the new pic sets! :)

*hug*

Why why why would anyone do this???

The pain, people...are you all masochists? When I get a blood sample from my thumb I turn my head, take a deeeep breath and count to ten in french.

I wouldn't even consider a nipple piercing Ouch.

ok, I'm a self-confessed wuss. But think of the girls. It's just cruel is all.

Peircing are a big turn on for some people. my bf at the time liked them so, i got them done!

I havent pierced yet..but thanks Mae for posting as well. Yes I have had opinions from a few of my close guy friends that they do not find the piercings attractive. I really like the way they look on other people though, and look forward to saving some cash to get mine done.

My two cents

I hate nipple piercings. I really do. I think it turns beautiful tits into Mardi Gras floats. I also don't like tatoos, but I guess that would be another thread. I think women bodies are beautiful, why go fucking it up with costume jewelery? If you want to draw attention to your tits, go without a bra to a public event. I'm sure they would get noticed.

Pain?

No Problem!

No Infection, Just Crusties Like Licky Said, But The Freaking Thing Wasn't Put In Far Enough And It Fell Off One Day When I Took My Bra Off!

Whatever!

The Kid Favored My Right Tit While I Breastfed, The Milk Would Come Out Like A Firehose:D

Enjoy, But Get It Done By A Pro, And I Mean A REAL Pro!

child birth hurts also.. are we masochists because we choose to have children?

I agree with you Freakygurl.
I have always wanted a tattoo. nearly 5 yrs ago i got one.
Yes it hurt like HELL but it was worth it.
Not everyone can handle the pain with piercing and tattooes but neither can some people when it comes to giving birth.

Piercing and tattooes are not for everyone.

Speaking of piercing... How old is to OLD to have your eyebrow or your upper ear pierced?I would like to know about the pain you can have from the eyebrow being pierced.

I have two tattoos and really the only one that hurt didn't hurt in the process of getting it..it hurt while healing.

I'm still considering this however....

BTW I don't need nipple rings to draw attention to my tits...I post them on the internet all the time...thats enough attention for me :p

I had my eyebrow done.. 3 years ago. I just turn 34...

No pain at all. But I also gave birth to my youngest via a c-section with only acupuncture (no spinal block like I had with the first three births). I have a huge pain threshold. It's sick really.

None of my tats or my piercings have ever hurt.

I just want your promise that close friends will get to visit the... ummmm.... little nippers BEFORE THE OPERATION! Just to lift the patients' spirits... really.

Promise?

[And thinking if it takes SIX months for a nipple to heal... -and I shudder to ask this because someone will probably answer it- how the hell long does it take for a Prince Albert to heal? -crossing my legs protectively.]

Well my tattoo hurt but only because it was so close to my ankle bone. The guy tried to talk me out of having my first one so big and so close to a bone.

Im usually a big wuss when it comes to pain but after having labor for 5 days and finally having a C-section i think i can handle any kind of pain.......lol

Im thinking about getting my eyebrow pierced but i didnt want to look like a 30 something woman trying to look young... you know?
I like the look.
I know if i get it done my parents will think ive lost my mind( they did when i got my tat LOL).

I had my tat done a few months before I had my eyebrow done.

It's just above the ankle bone on my right leg. Funny story here. I went in.. showed them what I wanted. He propped my leg up.. and started to do the outline. I was talking to my boyfriend and the tattoo dude said "This might hurt a little because I'm getting pretty close to your ankle". I looked down at my ankle. He was just about done outlining it in black.. and I said "Oh, you are doing it now? I thought you were drawing with an ink pen." He was amazed that I felt no pain. Even when the did the coloring of it.. I didn't feel anything.

Had my tongue pierced after my eyebrow.. and even though I bled like a stuck pig.. I didn't have any pain at all.
