So this isn't really a how-to question but I used to go on this site more often and I remember the people in this forum being much more knowledgeable and nicer than those in the general forum.

So any way, in the shower this morning I noticed that there was a little discharge coming from my one nipple. I squeezed and more came out. The same thing happened with the other one too. It definitely wasn't a lot, more like seeping even when I squeezed, with occasionally more coming out. I guess it could be milk but I honestly have no idea. I know I'm not pregnant because I'm on the patch and I'm also just finishing up my period right now.

I googled it and found enough information to figure out that it should be okay. It can happen because you're on birth control, although I've been on it for several months and it's never happened before. It can also happen from "mechanical stimulation" and I guess there was a lot of that a couple nights ago, but again that's happened before without the discharge showing up. I'm going to see if it's still happening tonight or tomorrow morning and if so, make an appointment with my gyn just in case.

I'm pretty sure it's nothing but I basically just want to know if this has happened to anyone else and what their reason turned out to be.

Here are some of the links I found in case any one is interested:

I think I remember reading that nipple discharge can be the sign of cancer or an infection of the glands in your breast. If your really worried Id go to your doc!

Do you have any visual problems like not being able to see off to the sides of BOTH eyes? If you were male, I would be more worried as that may be a sign of a pituitary gland (the master gland found in your brain) problem. Nevertheless, I would have you consult a doc for it just to be sure.

I called my doctor and she said it could just be extra hormones since I'm at the end of my period. She told me to take a pregnancy test just to rule that out (I did and it was negative) and to call back if it was still happening in a couple days.

Thanks for the responses.

I nursed both my children, and for some time after i finished nursing there was always a little bit there when I squeezed them. I know that awkwardness of it and even now occasionally = depending on my cycle there still is occasionally and its been well over a year since I nursed my youngest.

If your doctor is not alarmed - I don't suggest you be either.
