NightWorld

Her reaction and subsequent tirade baffled him. She was worried, nervous… afraid! To call him confused would have been a gross understatement. Leave? Why would he do that? He’d searched for so long, and now, when he’d finally found who he’d been looking for all this time… She wanted him to leave? What could possibly have her so scared?

Slowly he got up from his chair. His confusion was evident in his voice. “Ms. Pandora… I can’t just leave. It wouldn’t… Please, I have no intention of harming you. I could never harm you. How could me leaving make things better?” He walked slowly around the room, stopping only when he was situated between her and the door. “You are the first kind and decent being I’ve met in this forsaken realm… I can’t just forget I ever met you. It would be like asking for an entire realm to be un-made. You have no idea how long…” He trailed off as something registered in his mind.

“Kill you?” He was genuinely stunned. “Why on earth would I want to do that? What heinous crime could you possibly have committed to warrant that kind of punishment?” She couldn’t be serious!

Pandora had just about been ready to exit the room, opening the door before he spoke. Pausing she passed him a quick glance over her shoulder. Those delicately pretty features were sunk to a beautifully sorrow filled picture, one that could call the angels to cry within' heaven even. But no doubt, it was true. What she was ment to do, what they would expect her to do she wasn't. And she just couldn't bring herself to tell him. Though he was already so very much involved. He could just very easily go from place to place in NightWorld and seek her out, where ever it may be, and then where would she be?

She peered out into the hallway, down it, catching sight of a demon who was busy checking door numbers. It clicked in her head. Trailer... She quickly withdrew into the room, that Dark Gift sparked into action as she switched the sign from Unoccupied outside to Occupied, closing the door, and placing the chair she'd been using to block it, all with that Telekinisis, and quickly. She turned back to him, closing a good distance and lowering her voice considerably.

"If you knew what I almost did, what I was ment to do...who sent me to do it, then you would be at a even greater risk..." That voice was kept low, hastened as she wished to make as much distance between them as she could, straining that enhanced hearing to listen for any creature outside. She switched those deep crimson orbs from the door to him once more.

Why was she putting herself at stake for this man who she barely knew, who possessed an ability she had only heard of in past time, and was about to tell him every little detail behind her life? Because, she felt something there. Something...oddly unique. Something she hadn't felt before, that reached right down to that very cursed soul that centered her flawless form. And she was sure she would regret it all later, even meeting someone so flawlessly kind.

"I work for them. The Slayers...it..It was a very long time ago when they caught me. And they've been using me as a pawn for the longest time, to drawn in the strongest of NightWorld's creatures and get them out of the way...I wanted to tell you. But...now that you know, if they find out then you will be in even more trouble than myself. I already know what fate awaits me...I want to try and change that for you. They will find out about me...I've messed up too many times to know what I'm doing is against their wishes, and they'll be after me. So you need to leave, and get as far away as you can. I've almost gotten you killed once, I don't want that to almost happen again...just please...please forget you ever knew me." She turned her head yet again, that sheet of dark, red streaked hair following as she did so. The demon outside, one of her trailers no doubt was closer, she could hear him. They would have to wait for him to leave before they could go.

She could get him out through the back and that would be that...though Pandora felt a sharp echoing stab to the heart. One she knew that only came in it's invisible form, when she was denied her mother, and lost her to the Slayers. The very true essense of sorrow. But she'd made up her mind now, and she wasn't going back.

His blood boiled with fury. The Slayers! The Slayers had caught her! They were using her as a lure! Manipulating her! Bastards!!! They were no better then those disgusting degenerates of the human realm known as ‘pimps’!

His ears picked up a sound coming from the hall. Focusing his senses he drew in a deep breath. He caught a scent from just outside the door. He’d recognize that scent anywhere. Its foulness reflected its owner’s personality perfectly. “Jarlx” He growled the demon’s name. That demon had no honor, no limits and no regard for anything. He’d been known to rape, torture and mutilate women just because he was bored, and not necessarily in that order. He was a parasite, a pervert and a leech; and one hell of an informant. Figures that those cowardly Slayers would use someone like Jarlx to do their dirty-work for them.

Working quickly, Nemo held out his hand and his hat and cane flew into his grasp. His other hand made a very tight fist, his now slightly pointed fingernails cutting into his skin causing him to bleed slightly. Having placed his hat on his head, Nemo quickly grabbed Pandora’s arm and turned her around so that her back was to him. His un-bloodied hand clutched his cane and he brought it up to her opposite shoulder, successfully pressing her body tightly up against him, his forearm across her chest just above her ample breasts. Nemo’s bloodied hand came up in a flash and left a small smear of his blood on her cheek.

“Trust me!” He whispered hastily in her ear.

Holding his bloodied hand out in front of them he whispered the word ‘askew’ in a language so old and long dead that to anyone else it sounded like gibberish. And around them, the world began to loose its color. Everything around them seemed to have transformed into a grayish slightly distorted version of itself as the spell successfully sent the two of them slightly askew from the real world. They existed just a fraction of a degree outside the realm of reality. They could see everything around them and observe the happenings, but to the real world they didn’t exist.

A few seconds later the door to the room opened and Jarlx stepped through, a simple ‘Occupied’ sign not deterring him in the least. The demon looked around, only seeing an empty room. He sniffed the air like a dog. Then he walked further into the room, his eyes scanning every corner, right towards the two of them! Nemo’s grip on Pandora tightened slightly. And Jarlx… Walked right through them! The demon’s slow pace didn’t even falter. He checked every nook and cranny of the room before heading for the door, stopping to take one final glance around the room, before closing the door behind him.

Waiting for what seemed like an eternity and making sure that Jarlx was indeed gone, all his senses strained to their maximum capacity unable to pick up any trace of the demon, Nemo finally dismissed the spell. The world around them regained its color as the two of them were re-introduced into reality. Slowly, almost hesitantly, he released Pandora from his grip.

“We have much to discuss, Ms. Pandora.” His voice was soft and kind but held an unmistakable note of seriousness. When Pandora turned to face him, He looked right in her eyes! And he did not look away.

The actions were so fast, and so skillful that she had but to obey and they worked with no error. Either madness or brillance, that odd act of using his own blood, perhaps blood in general to twist and warp, bend reality to his will. Had fear not been so present in her mind, she would have been in pure awe and shock. Pandora's actions never came blandly. They came in strong torrents, no mild sadness, no mild anger, no mild happiness. All in which were the strongest of emotions, generally trasformed from that celestial blood in her. She was sure that was the reason that she reacted like such. Demons, weres, vampires seemed less likely to subject themself to emotion. Demons, perhaps, but rarely. Weres and Vampires, despite the fact taht both had been human at once, found it a waste of time. They all held common lust, she was sure, but real fear, real sadness seemed rare. Very rare.

A jolt of fear nearly caused her to gasp. It was that very demon that had tracked her down so skillfully before, by scent of her uncommon blood no doubt. He'd been the one who lead those Slayers right to her. But now, it seemed he could not see them, or hear them in that odd paralell universe. And when he walked right through her, she seemed even more awe-struck, shocked even.

The demon turned, what seemed like an eternity of waiting, and left the room. And even more reprecussions were used to assure that he was truly gone, and would not burst back into the room. Then he released her, and though she felt perhaps the safest she had standing there in his arms, despite the sure danger around them, she stepped away and turned to face him. All it took was a meeting of their eyes to tell her something. Instantly she grasped the strand of concept, focusing her eyes to catch finally a controlled pupil. So he wasn't blind after all, not as she had thought. His eyes were so pale that anyone could have thought so, unless their sight was as well developed, and enhanced as Pandora's was.

Though she couldn't bring herself to look at him. Even though she had no choice but to work for those Slayers, Pandora couldn't help but feel that all of it could have been avoided if she'd let him be back at the bar. A rare sense of shame settled over her, eyes reflecting now every stitch of emotion or thought in her head. She really did get her emotions in a mix now. And when she had such a confusion, one could read her movements and gestures like a book that had just been written. Those deep crimson orbs couldn't bring themselves to raise as she took a deep breath. The sooner he would leave, the safer he would be.

She shifted her thoughts over the past happenings. So, that was it. What she had heard about so rarely. Blood Magic. The oddest form she could imagine, though her view upon it finalized that it had to be the strongest she'd seen rivaled by the art of Celestial Magic, Alchemy and Elemental Magic, perhaps even stronger. The second scent of blood she'd gotten had also let her know that there was, if any, the faintest connection between his blood, and herself. She could not grasp it completely, it had all happened so quickly she was surprised that her Gift hadn't gotten out of hand and made everything in the room lose gravity and begin to swirl. It vortexed when under pressure or stress, or sudden happenings that caused confusion or shock.

"I'm so sorry...if they find out though, that you know, then they will find a way to get to you. They always do. I don't want anything bad to happen to you because of me." Her voice was kept low, as to not draw any attention from anyone who might be passing the door outside. Though the heaviness of magic was slowly wearing, anyone in close range might catch on and become curious. She wondered just what they would do if they found out she was turning on them. If they would just burn her, or set lose their other lures on her, or lock her away and starve her of blood until she faded on to the next realm. She knew they would find a way. They had with the only other fallen angel she had ever met, and only met once. He had even a more rough time in NightWorld than the human Slaves did, until he was confronted by a informative link the Slayers controlled, and killed him. They took him away, and she hadn't seen or heard even the smallest word on what happened to him. She brought herself to look up to him, her eyes meeting his now, taking his hand, her voice almost at a desperate pled. That wave of emotion, given by that fallen blood of hers seemed to be most in control.

"Please, Nemo. Just leave, go down to the end of this hall and exit the back way. Forget you ever came to La Lune.."

The shame he felt emanating from the woman before him tore at his heart. She was so sure that everything that happened had been her fault in some way. He could tell that she wanted to save him, to keep him safe from the slayers, who had undoubtedly put out yet another contract on him. Stubborn bastards!

Her eyes… those beautiful fire hued eyes, so full of desperation, guilt… and regret, pleaded with him to do as she asked. To leave. To forget that he’d ever been here. To forget that he’d ever seen her. To turn away and leave her here in this hellhole to face the wrath of the Slayers. Alone.

Slowly, his hand reached out and gently cupped her face, his thumb stroking her cheek, just below her eye. Her eyes, he was mesmerized by them. His voice was dreamy and low, almost a whisper. “You have her eyes.” His head cocked a fraction. “The exact same hue.” He could see the confusion on her face, but before she could say anything, he spoke again. “I’m sorry, Ms. Pandora. I cannot do as you ask. I will not leave you here.”

He shook his head slowly, his grip on his emotions becoming more and more frail as he continued speaking. “You do not understand. I made a promise. I took an oath. To find as many four blooded as I could… and to keep them safe. I made a promise to a lady… A fallen… Abbadonna. The penitent fallen. She begged me to help her find them… To protect them.” His eyes were brimming with tears. He had searched for so long, and now that he had finally found her, the last of her kind, she wanted him to abandon her to certain death!

“For fifteen hundred years I’ve searched. Finding nothing but rumors, myths, lore and the occasional long dead corpse. And now, now that I’ve finally found you… You want me to leave?” He shook his head again. “You don’t realize how special you are, Ms. Pandora. Your roots- Your 'fallen' roots. They lie to the first true noble fallen… the one who gave me the magic I can wield… So I could better fulfill my promise to her... You, Ms. Pandora, are the descendant of Abbadonna, The penitent fallen.”

Allowing her a moment to let the realization sink in, it was time for the bitter truth. “The Slayers’ capture of you, there’s no way that was just a fluke. They wanted you for a reason. And it was not just because of your 'fallen' roots.” He bent down in front of her so that their eyes were at level with each other’s and cupped her face in both of his hands. He knew this would probably hurt her to hear, but she had to know, and she had to hear it from him. Keeping his voice soft, he spoke. “You… You, are the last of the four blooded.”

He searched her eyes. He had to make her understand that even though she was the last of her kind, she wasn’t alone. That she didn’t have to be alone. His voice was soft yet held a firm tone. “I will not abandon you, Ms. Pandora! If the Slayers want you dead for not completing your assignment, then they will have to go through me to get to you! And may whatever deity they choose to believe in have mercy on their oily hides if they try!”

That horrible aching feeling, as if she'd just attempted to destroy the world itself still hadn't gone, distress becomming harder and harder to hide in her eyes. Why was he doing this? Why wouldn't he just leave, and save her heart less pain, so that she may try and come up with a plan to keep them away, far away.

She'd been thinking mainly of heading right in their, head on, and release that pent up anger and fury on as many of those bastards that she could. If she were to remain alive, then she would be lucky, but if she were to perish, then it was likely, that, after that act of courageousness, whatever controller of time and earth itself would reincarnate her, as she had seen so rarely, but possible.

His next words began to puzzle her. Eyes? What of them? She knew them to be unique, their firey shade different from the cat like slits she'd seen, or the deep gold, violet, or even the occasional live wire blue. But what he said made her wonder in all. His following words caused her heart to sink horribly. No, he wasn't going to leave, she had a feeling he wouldn't. He seemed determined...destined to stay there with her.

Abbadonna? A fallen angel? Yes, but what did that have to do with her? She was no four blood, as far as she knew she had only the mix of three, demon, fallen angel, and vampire. Perhaps there was another she was unaware of? But of course, how could she have been so blind as to over look it! That halfling blood, that odd blood that carried the makings of greatness and mysteries of many races was also intertwined in her blood. So, she was one of them, after all...

She watched him, that sorrow slowly changing to a mix of emotions, confusion the most. Abbadonna, that fallen was of her decendant? Of course! That was the reason the slayers had been so intent on being rid of her mother...though they hadn't learned of her later, after her father had conjured the demon who had killed her mother, and in turn, had been killed himself. That demon had told them about her, that odd little winged girl, trying her hardest to keep control of those wings, the smallest fright causing her to knock over a trash can, or even shift vehicals if it was large enough. And he'd gone, and told the Slayers. It had only been a matter of time before they knew.

As he continued on, Pandora felt the need to snap back that flood of now sadness, blinking, trying to return those eyes to their unreadable, emotionless state. She felt herself unable to. No doubt, tears would come soon after. Pandora disliked that fact, but this all was so much, so sudden, hearing finally that she was the last of her kind. Perhaps one of the last creatures to have fallen angel blood in her veins. And surely the last of four bloods. She bit her bottom lip, having never felt so alone in her life. And what was she to do now? Give up, and fall defeated to those bastard slayers? She was unsure. No doubt, a single tear left those crimson eyes, taking the color of blood as it fell, before dropping to the ground with a jewel like sound. Tears of a Fallen Angel, another trait that was from her heiratage. Horribly powerful, those tiny red jewels were, once pulled together. But she paid it no mind now as he spoke on.

His words brought a smile to her face, soft, hurt, but still. By the goddess, he was so stubborn! He was so determined to protect her. But it would be hard. And difficult. As long as the slayers did not know yet, then they could try and think of something. And they'd have to do it quickly.

"You have got to be the most stubborn man...but thank you. I'm not sure what I would do without you." None the less, unable to keep a firm grip on those emotions, she leaned forward, those hands wrapping around him in a quick, gentle embrace. Yes, but this was only the tip of a massive ice burg.

Jhacahrr "Nemo" Lehane

The sight of her tears almost broke his heart. Those special precious jewels that only a creature with celestial blood could produce fell from her eyes. She looked so heartbroken. But her small smile lightened the mood a bit. Even when in pain, she had the power to light up a room with the smallest of smiles. She truly was a work of wonder.

He couldn’t help but chuckle slightly at her words. Stubborn! Well, he’d been called worse. And she wasn’t that far off. He was stubborn. He had to be. How else could he have made it this far? The gratitude in her eyes was overwhelming. He found himself captivated by her.

Her embrace took him by surprise. As she wrapped her arms around him, he froze. It had been a long time since anyone had touched him in a way other then intended for harm. It had been even longer, a lot longer, since he’d received a hug. A serious, from the heart, hug. He stood there frozen, with no idea of what to do. Slowly, his body took over, instinctively knowing what the correct response was. He cared for this young woman and she needed reassurance. His arms wrapped around her firm feminine body. He hugged her back gently and rested his cheek on the top of her head.

“I won’t let anyone hurt you, Ms. Pandora.” His voice was raw with emotion. Emotions that he hadn’t felt in a very long time. Happiness. Joy. He couldn’t begin to describe what he felt at that moment. It felt so good to have someone in his arms. He could feel all the pressure of his search that had been building up over hundreds of years drain away as he held her warm body in his embrace.

He moved one of his hands and cupped the back of her head. Closing his eyes, he moved his head to place a small, tender kiss on the top of her head, as a tear slipped from his eye and landed on her head. He would go to his death and face eternal damnation before he let anything happen to her.

Pandora felt that flicker of the dark gift, that familiar on and off return to her, a full fledged flush of emotions that she had felt from no demon, never before reach out to her through their close contact. It was nice...stronger than human emotions, and actually sincere. Though she knew they were in danger here, with that rat of a demon lurking aroudn outside. He'd sniff them out and drag them off to face those slayers, all too soon, without a plan and nothing but what they had themselves to held. She smiled lightly, pulling back and looking up to him.

"Lets get out of here...La Lune isn't safe right now, they might have more tails in the bar. If we do anything that might make them think that something's happened, then they might run off and report. It's alright, I know a place in NightWorld where we can go..." Furthest from the portal to the human's realm as they could get, one of the darker areas of NightWorld, inhabited mostly by vampires. But still, after taking in all that she had in the room they were in, Pandora doubted any vampire would be foolish enough to bother them. She took his hand, aware now that he could in fact see, the motion of her own means, unlocking the room and waiting for a moment, stopping as if forgetting something.

With that telekinesis she drew up that tear shaped red jewel that had come from herself. Beastly powerful little thing, it'd be just enough to give them up should any demon search the room. She hastily tucked it away, she quickly made her way further down the hall, the music from the bar still blaring loudly. Once safely headed toward the exit, she released his hand and pushed the door open, releasing them into the ever dark atmosphere of the parallel realm. It was so much like the human realm, just a bit different. She'd probably be cut pay majorly for this, disappearing out of the blue, but she wasn't concerned with that. At the time, they both were in the red. They needed to act right now.

Pandora carefully nagivated her way through those back alleys. It was amazing how much the creatures of NightWorld mimiced the humans. A good few of their very own product trash lingered on the ground, the large built buildings, hell, even vehicals they used were driven freely through the street. Though the crowds were crafted of quick talking, and normally quick moving creatures of night, mostly Vampire, Demon and the more humanoid Were. Pandora made it an object to not be seen or heard. That would be threatening, for them both.

A careful few steps had them upon the rooftops until finally assending the ladder of a human like apartment complex. Like everything else in NightWorld, it was crafted of black colored stones, black metal, everything was dark, never light. Finally creeping through the window of one of them, her very own place of staying if anything, Pandora gave a sigh, motioning down the pair of massive black canines, Hell Hounds. The pair were as tall as a human eleven year old child, muscular with pointed ears and vicious fangs, crimson eyes and spiked collars.

"We should be alright here for a while. But not for long. They know where I stay, the trackers they have on me, but at least we can decide what to do, and where we can go after this..." She spoke simply in those soft tones, brushing back that long, red streaked hair. The place was quaint, delicately clean kept, many of the items she had inside of it what had been passed between her family that she could recover.

Still ok, to join?

O.O.C: Is this thread still open to join? I thought I'd better check before introducing a new character into the mix...

I am thinking of bringing a face to the trackers etc. that Pandora keeps mentioning, he would be a semi-human demon slayer that considers himself a bringer of divine justice, and as you two appear to have blood of the Fallen, he would be particularly interested in hunting you down as you are an offense to the heavens.

How does it sound?

Steven Mortstein

Steven Mortstein lashed out at Jarlx, knocking him to the floor with raw holy power.
"Idiot demon! How could you have lost them?"

Jarlx cringed, Mortstein was not a character to be trifled with, employed by the slayers; he had decided to make it his goal to cleanse the Nightworld of the Fallen. They were scum and offensive to the true angels, he would stop at nothing to eradicate them all.

Seeing he was getting no answer, Mortstein pulled a bent, metal cross from inside his jacket and held it to the demon's face. Seconds later all that was left of Jarlx was dust. He turned to leave the alley they had met in, muttering to himself all the while.
"Fine, I will find them myself, and when I do..."

************************************************

The bar room at La Lune went silent at his entry, it's occupants staring at the man in black at the door.
"Out" he commanded, and demons, vampires and weres scrambled to obey, each hurrying out into the night, anxious to avoid the wrath of the holy man. He caught one fleeing waitress and extracted the pair's room number, before flinging the sorry vampire out onto the street behind him.

As the door banged shut behind him, Mortstein was left in an empty room, completely silent and positively reeking of evil. One day, he vowed he would come back and burn this place to the ground. He would take great delight in it. Moving warily, bent cross held in front of him like a shield, Mortstein moved along the corridor to the rooms. The one known as Nemo was not known for setting traps, but Mortstein had learnt caution, the hard way.

The room was almost bare and there were no obvious traces of its former occupants, he quickly searched it but found nothing, suddenly he paused and sniffed the air. Celestial teardrops. With a smile Mortstein exited the room and strode quickly towards the exit, the chase had begun.

Jhacahrr "Nemo" Lehane

He heard her words, but they really didn’t register in his head. The trip from the bar to this place had been a very fast one. But now they were here, in her ‘humble abode’. Slowly, he walked around the apartment, taking in his surroundings. It wasn’t very big, but there was something… a feeling of welcomed warmth. This was not just an apartment. This was a home. He looked around, at all the things she had, from furniture to little nik-naks. He turned and looked at her, a warm smile on his lips.

“You have a beautiful home, Ms. Pandora.” He meant every word of it. He had seen bigger and fancier places that humans had called ‘homes’, but they’d been sterile, dull, with no soul.

He looked at a shelf that held a few nik-naks. One of them was a small ballerina made of glass, no more then two inches tall. He reached out, and gently touched it with his finger. He felt as if a big emotional connection was attached to this small object. He cocked his head slightly as he mulled the sensation over in his head. It was a wonderful feeling. He drew his hand back and turned to face her.

“You’re right, Ms. Pandora. We can’t stay here for long. If that demon returns to the Slayers and reports that he lost the track, they will send someone far more suitable for the task, and a lot more powerful.”

He thought for a moment. They needed to disappear. Where could they go? Then it hit him, the most obvious place!

“The realm of man. We could loose them there. Human’s do not care what goes on around them if it doesn’t affect them directly. Their realm is vast. It would take them forever to find us. We could…” His words trailed off. His brows knitted together in confusion.

A gnawing sensation in the back of his head had drawn his attention. It was something that alerted him to danger. Something that the powers given to him by Abbadonna combined with his own demon nature had produced. A side effect, if you will. He whipped around trying to figure out what it might be that had set it off. His gaze fell on the window they had entered through and his gaze hardened.

“Ms. Pandora! Get the things you want with you together! The quicker the better! This place is not safe!” His voice was cold and dead serious.

He very rarely got that feeling any more. Something was coming. Something very, very bad. His eyes narrowed as he stared at the window.

“By the twitching of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes.” He quoted in hushed tones.

Steven Mortstein

He strode across the darkened rooftops, smiling as he thought how close his quarry had come to losing him. He had wandered the streets for a while after losing their trail, he was on the verge of giving up when he had caught a familiar whiff in the air. The demon had been foolish to shed his blood in the room. Like a hunting dog, Mortstein had the scent, and he had a hunch where it was leading him...
