NFL playoffs!

Okay. So I'm not a huge football fan. I watch football. I usually don't care who wins or loses. Until...

Did you know the AZ Cardinals are playing well for the first time since they came here in 1988?

That would be 20 years. So. I've never known the home team to be any good. The climate in Phoenix is... intoxicating. We have some of the most fickle fans here, but... seize the moment.

Just thought I'd share. Phoenix is quiet. University of Phoenix Arena in Glendale is Rocking. Wow. Cool.



Anybody else have a sports miracle to share? (Oh yes. I believe this might be a miracle.)

Not in NFL playoffs, although I'd also consider it a miracle if Arizona goes to the Superbowl. (although I've noticed that the score at halftime is 21-6 Arizona)

There are two in NCAA sports that I remember and consider miracles. One is from March Madness in 1996 (I believe). We were playing Cincinnatti, and we were down by two points with only a second or so left in the game...the ball was inbounded, caught and thrown like a Hail-Mary from 3/4ths court, and went into the basket, giving us the game as time expired.

The Bearcats hate us for that.

The other is a football game against Washington in 1999. Ortege Jenkins was our quarterback and couldn't play worth spit without Keith Smith. So we were in the red zone and well within scoring distance, but our time was really, really short. Jenkins caught the snap and ran headlong toward Washington's entire defensive line with the intent of jumping through them, which I thought was a really dumb move. Bold, but dumb. Anyway, they try to catch him as he leaps and end up knocking his ankles over his head...he flipped and landed solidly on his feet in the endzone, which gave us the game.

Washington hates us for that.
