I was watching the local nightly news tonight, and the anchors were a mature woman and a young man. Both very good looking, of course. I got to thinking, what would the sexual dynamics be here?

The mature woman has certainly been around the block. Many sexual experiences. Knows what she wants and how to get it.

The young man is certainly less experienced, but to be working in a major market at a young age, he must be at least a little confident, cocky, and know how to get what HE wants.

Certainly some sexual sparks are bound to fly. Maybe they flirt off the air, and maybe even on the air. Maybe she offers to coach him in certain skills, back at her place. Maybe they secretly play footsie under the desk while the cameras roll. It just seems to me that there would be innumerable ways the story would go.

I know nothing about how TV newsrooms work, so I doubt I could craft a creditable story for this scenario. But I would certainly love to read one!

" "E.N.G." stands for electronic news-gathering. The show is led by Anne Hildebrandt (Sara Botsford), the senior executive producer of the news broadcasts on fictional Toronto television station, CTLS channel 10. Hildebrandt is bright, assertive and also having a clandestine affair with star cameraman Jake Antonelli (Mark Humphrey). Jake is younger and married to Martha with two children; after Jake and Martha divorce, son Jeff lives with Jake, while their daughter lives with her mother.

Mike Fennell (Art Hindle) is the station's newly-appointed news director, taking a position Anne had been expecting to receive. Mike aims to improve ratings of the newscasts and his coverage philosophy is in obvious conflict with Anne's. Anne and Mike find common ground and later become romantically involved. "

Kind of a weird show, but interesting in some ways. Some portions could easily be Lit-able.

I managed to misread the first sentence as "local nightclub news" and before it reformed on more detailed scanning had a thought that that's oddly specific and indeed inspiring on own right. If they did such a news block in a place with busy night life, that would certainly add options and opportunities especially if they insist on doing personal research into the topic.

It's a very cool scenario. Any mentor type relationship has this potential. Also since 99% of people have no idea what goes on behind the camera, it would give you a lot of leeway when it comes to imagining the story/situation without being bogged down by accuracy.

One evening after the show wraps the team grabs a drink at the local watering hole. After a half hour, the two new colleagues find themselves alone at the table. Diane has noticed a certain intern casting alluring glances at Jake, her young costar. She says, "Jake, let me give you a piece of advice. In this business, if your single, sleep with other single people. No harm, no foul. But if you're going to have an affair, always make sure they have as much to lose by it coming to light as you do."

He glances at her briefly and takes a sip from his drink. "Only single people. You mean like, yourself, for instance?"

She glances back and their eyes meet. "Exactly. We're both single. No harm, no foul. But that young intern is married and doesn't yet have a career to be damaged."

Jake nods, he's noticed the star-struck intern. She's very pretty. "I appreciate the wisdom. Anything else you could teach me?"

She gives him a sly grin. "I'm sure there's a lot I could teach you. Any plans for tonight?"

He shakes his head and finishes the last of his beer. "Nope."
