Ok, so I found this article... I don't know if you've posted it here before, but if you have, I apologize.

Anyway... This kind of angered me. Why do people have to be so prejudiced? I wish i could live in a society where submission and domination is acceptable. Maybe I should move to japan.

Anyway, discuss the article.. lets see where we get.
Personally, I think it's bullshit.. If them being in a dog-lead was dangerous, then what about dogs? They are let in the bus too. They could simply have asked the couple to remove the collar.

This was talked about recently but I honestly can't recall if it was here or on one of my email groups or what. I recall that conversation basically boiled down into

Camp 1) People are too narrow minded.

Camp 2) They shouldn't have involved other people in their "scene."

A lot of predictable variations popped up including, they weren't scening, this is a lifestyle, and so forth back and forth. For my part I think people should just live and let live but then again I've lived in plenty of cities where the acceptable norms are pretty broad and my reaction to being shocked (on the rare occasions it happens) is "hey, what's that?"

But as we all know shock for many folks is an inherently bad thing and once they're out of their comfort levels putting people up on posts and starting the bonfire is pretty common. So, I suspect, they were doing it for attention and to shock people as they should have expected this reaction. They were looking for the reaction. If they were so narrowly focused into their rights as to not realize they were going to get this reaction that has to be some clinical variant of narssisism.

Now, do I think they should have the right? Sure. The question if do you want to be the one to fight that fight. I don't think its a fight that could be won right now nor do I even care to. I'm happy living in the underground. Mainstream acceptance is not of interest to me.

There was a huge uproar in London last night in protest... However, The non-goths (or 'Normals') didnt like their protest and tried to sacrifice them for being witches in a mass burning at the stake:

(for those who are not from the UK, Camden is known for a common place for alternative scenes (i.e goth, punk) hang out.)

Personally I agree with above, surely he could have just asked to have taken it off im sure they would have complied.

I don't necessarily think they did it for attention ... Goths don't dress like that for attention... Well some do. But some don't. For some it's a dress code.

But if I could get away with it, I'd want to be led in a leash too. Not for attention, but because I want to be able to be myself... Without people discriminating against me. I don't care if people yell at me or whatever... As long as they let me step on busses, and be inside stores. I could really care less what people think of me. I just want a chance to be able to endulge in my own desires, without anyone stopping me from living a normal life.

Did you see the show where they were talking on the news channel? That news reporter or whatever just screamed of prejudice.

"But you're not some human pet. You're a normal girl"
"What would you do if you were on a talkshow wearing normal clothes."..

Yea.. it's out of the norm... But the way that girl was talking about this, was as if they had a problem in their brain.
Being goth or in the lifestyle defers from the norms... But that doesn't mean we should have less rights than everyone else. No one is being hurt because someone wears black.. Or has a girl that's willing to do anything for her partner. Except themselves. Goths get beaten up for what they are.

Of course there are "bad" goths too... But that's just part of humanity. x_x I'm tired of people telling us how to live.

Japan FTW!

Been talked about here a few times - on the Goth Girls of Lit thread mostly, and I believe also briefly on a thread of its own. :rose:
