There, I can shelter myself behind the business facade and hastily thrown gates to my emotions. Not ruthless, but cold, distant from pain. Besides, at least I know how to do business since I'm so horrible with relationshihps.
I press the heels of my palms deep into my eyes, seeking to infuse more energy to keep going. With a sigh, I reach for yet another cup of coffee. Movement through the window draws my attention. It is but the branches stirring with a rising storm. Waving, beckoning me, I am entranced by their dance.
"Ok," I sigh. "Perhaps I do need some air." I can't believe it's already mid-afternoon. Stepping outside, I watch the clouds build, analagous to my life. Too many hours over too many days have drained the moat dangerously low.
A gush almost sweeps me off my feet, tearing at my clothes, whipping my tie. It reminds me of you. Weary, I embrace the memories. I throw back my head and feel your fingers running through my hair. Your kiss caressing my lips. Your smile parting the clouds. Your tears began to fall upon my upthrust face, first one, then many.
