newbie question

I have been in the lifestyle for a couple years and I keep hearing the phrase let the sub top. I just want to confirm my thoughts are correct that is basically letting the sub be the Dom of a scene correct. If I am wrong please feel free to correct me. Also anyone who has thoughts on this I would love to hear them.

I have always understood the term 'topping from the bottom' to be more about the sub getting their way in a a subtle way and perhaps over a period of time. Slowly introducing limits (rather than working past limits in the way I feel it should be) to manipulate things the way they want.

I have never seen it as a straight switch of roles (coz that would be switching), but more a manipulation on the subs part to bend the will of the Dom to what they want not their master (or whatever name is given).

I think there are two different concepts here...one is a classic switch where the sub takes a turn domming...the other (which I think you mean) refers to the sub subtly controlling the scene either through conversation befor hand about pushing limits or during in some fashion by disobedience, etc that leads to harsher punishment for example
