Hi folks, I'm new here.

I wanted to know how to remove the "immersive story" stuff from the front page, since I've written like 3-4 bits already and I haven't figured out how to insert the field, so it's plain old 1st person now.
(I'm going to post to the feedback forum next)

Also, I invite people to read and rate (women will be most interested, I think) my stuff, I'm interested in what y'all think.

You Can't

As far as I know you can't remove it once you have started the story that way. There are plenty of other stories out there with the same problem, so I wouldn't worry about it. Usually the writers figure it out. You can always correct any problems before you approve a thread.

For future reference it works like this:

"Prompt For Reader Name - Check this box and CHYOO will prompt the reader for their name before they begin the story. You can thus imbed the variables {FIRST_NAME} and {LAST_NAME} anywhere in the story, and CHYOO will replace them with the reader's name. This feature is most useful for dialogue written in the 2nd person."

So all you have to do is put in {FIRST_NAME} to get the first name to appear.

What is the name of the story, and what section is it in?

sweet, like, an answer to a question i didn't even have to ask = )

thanks for asking, fiction, and thanks for answering jake.

Thanks for the info!!
And where exactly did you GET that info?? Is there a help page somewhere that I didn't find?

What is the name of the story, and what section is it in?

It's in Erotic Couplings, called Seducing the Prof.
It seems to have been viewed by lots of people, but nobody's rated it and it's my first chyoo-story and I'd like to know....y'know?

Hehehe.

I just changed it to "Seducing Dr. Walker" since if at some point in the future I get up the nerve to actually refer the prof I'm interested in to this site, I don't want it to be totally obvious which story _I_ wrote. ;)

I'm working on it still, adding the immersive-elements, if you're reading right now keep reloading. :)

Hey....

I used the first-name=female last-name=male technique for the immersive stuff, where do I put the note about that?

Dear fictionalcharactr

The best place I could think of to place that is in the Synopsis part as that is what people read before entering your story.

An example of this if your wondering is the story A Little Help From Mum . The author has done much the same as you. Have a look for the title in the Top Rated section to see what I mean.

Hope this helps

Looks Good

I read through your story and the immersive stuff works well now. Good start to a story. I will try to add a few threads in the next week or so.

Thanks.

Cool!

I'd like to see what other people would do with the plot. So far it's just a variety of my fantasies about a particular guy.
(altho be forewarned, if necessary I'll repair grammar, punctuation, spelling, PoV and tenses before I approve a new thread...I can do that, right? I mean, it must be possible, right?)

Dear Fictionalcharactr

Once someone has sent a thread to you it is completely in your hands to do as you see fit. You can change anything about it before you approve it. You are their King.

Dacia

Hehehe....

I like that. ;)
Altho, I just wasn't sure if I had to just approve or reject it as a whole, or if I could edit it myself and then approve it as I'd edited it.
There's definately a few people here with great imaginations and lousy punctuation/grammar, I'd hate to exclude them.

Or on the other hand you could be their Queen. I like the sound of that better. How terrible of me to be so gender specific before. lol. Political correctness has gone too far.

Dacia

*smirk* Actually, yeah, Queen would be the proper term, but we could just say "Monarch" for the gender-neutral title. ;)

Just wondering....

I know you're not supposed to take someone's story and completely change it into what you want it to be, but is it considered acceptable to add an option/thread and then, after that's approved, take that in a completely different direction?
Like basically, look at what I did with My Sister the Maid and tell me if I can take the story in a completely different direction from what Rie wrote? Basically that whole "human sex-slaves treated like animals" isn't my thing.....

So is it considered rude to take a story in a different direction from what other people have written, even if it's forked off in a logical sequence?

This is really more of a "chyoo manners" question, I guess.

(Hehe, and should I be proud that I've got one story of my own and two threads in other's stories approved, all within my first week? ;) )

If in doubt the best course of action would be to E-mail the editor in question and put your idea to them.

As the editor has to appprove every step of the way, you can't do anything that they wouldn't want you to do anyway. Go for it.

And if the original author (or anybody else for that matter) doesn't like it, they can always add alternative threads that take the story in the direction that they prefer. Thats the great thing about interactive fiction.

??

What exactly do I need to do to get people to RATE my story???
Going on 300 views (only about 50 my own) and no ratings or comments yet. :(

Rating slowly trickle in every now and again. I because of the long time it takes to process votes. I cant realy think of a way to get people to vote any quicker other than just asking us here in the forums. 300 views isnt a large amount yet to expect a lot of votes. Be patient, build the views and the votes will come.
