Newbie or not Newbie

Newbie

I'm a newbie...still trying to find my way around here. I don't think it's a big deal, everyone is new at some time or another...i enjoy reading the posts and opinions to subjects that I'm interested in. It's a pretty good site to meet new people/friends

BTW, how long has Literotica been around? I would be interested to hear how it all got started...or is there a place on the site that tells you? lol

<definitely a newbie question!>

The only way to break through the newbie wrapping is jump right in.........Leave your thin skin at home, and remember there are lotsssssssssssssss I said lotsssssssssssssss of people here who like to have fun..........Doesn't matter if you are a newbie or a longtime poster we all have our "asshole" days.........april

To newbie or not to newbie

It is rather like bringing a new cat into a group.

You have to put up with a fair amount of ass sniffing and sometimes a bit of hissing, but eventually, when we find out you aren't troll like or a shit stirrer, you will be one of the group.

Amount of time varies.

If you come in and rattle off 200 posts and 20 new threads a day the hissing may go an for awhile. If you sorta sneak in we may never even be able to remember exactly we first saw you.

well said april-wine :)

it doesnt matter if your newbie or not here really i think this place welcomes nice people and snaps its teeth at nasty posters ... thats why some newbies whine about not being accepted ... its probably because they've done something nasty in thier first few posts ... but even then this place can be very forgiving

i for one considor myself a newbie still ... i dont know when i'll considor myself as belonging here as much as the longer time posters but who cares im having fun and making friends :)

I was just giving them a heads-up..............this is turning inot an asshole day for me.........sexy-girl will agree it doesn't happen often...........today I hate the world:( :( :(

*HUG's* for april ... your one of the brightest happyest and bubbly people here april im sorry to see you sad ... tommorow will be better i hope ... people like you deserve to be happy every single day

p.s : you have a pm too

You'll also cease to be a newbie when you spell every one of the members' names correctly.

that is the question????
When does a newbie stop being a newbie??
Is it the number of posts?
Number of threads started?
Length of time as a member?
Or something else
Ian

I've been on Lit for about 7 months, mainly reading and enjoying the stories and on chat, and it took a lot of courage to post my first few words, which I did on the Personals, in an attempt to make acquaintance with single males of like mind in my area. On the whole, it was a very pleasant experience.

When I did muster up even more courage to post on the General Board, it was after much reading and familiarization with topics to which I felt I could relate or felt strongly enough about to make a comment. My approach, much like entering a room with people, is to acknowledge those present and an "excuse me for jumping in" line. I make my comment or statement and yes, always return looking for some sort of feedback, however brief.

No, I don't expect a welcome mat or a barrage of greetings, but it does get a bit disheartening, and I feel somewhat reluctant to continue posting at times, when I feel my contribution wasn't worthwhile, or when I think perhaps it's because I'm too "new", to anticipate any sort of recognition or response.

Suffice it to say, I'm still doing just what I did when I started out, some days are better than others.

I consider myself to be a newbie

I tend to do more reading than posting. I guess it's because I jumped right in with my first post before hanging around for a bit and reading about people.

I avoid the shit slinging and posts where there's lots of arguing, because I don't feel that I've got anything valid to say there - I don't know what went on before, and to be honest, I don't care :)

I try to post whenever I feel the urge to add something, but I haven't really started a post, because I'm still trying to fit in.

Anyway, back to the posts :)

I love you, darlin'; you see *everything*, don't you?

I still consider myself a newbie around here because most people don't know who I am. It is true that I hardly ever post in the GB and that is probably why people don't know me. So.... yeah, I am still very much a newbie.

I can attest to this!

Yes, I'll admit it, I was a stupid newbie. Actually, I came in here just to bitch, go on a rant and then leave. I wish I knew then about posting as unregistered, that would have saved me an embarrassment ;)

Anyway, after my uninformed bitch y'all can imagine the flaming I got. LMAO! It was terrible, I think one of the first responses was from Never calling me a moron...well, it went rapidly downhill from there. It was that very first thread that got me addicted to this board. I made my apologies, learned to think before I speak (mostly:D ), and I have made many friends here.

So, the moral of the story is...Learn from your mistakes or more importantly, the mistakes of others! :)
