Not really. I just wanted to get your attention.
I was reading a short story the other day and the main character had that New York is the best place in the world attitude. It fit for the character and it was a good story, but it got me thinking.
None of my favorite writers are from New York, nor are Faulkner or Hemingway (usually the top two on most peoples lists of American writers). Steinbeck, Raymond Carver, Jack Kerouac. None of them are from New York.
So who are these great NYC writers. There must be someone I'm not remembering (besides Norman Mailer--born in New Jersey anyhow). Help me out!
