Three questions:

1. Where will you be?
2. What will you be doing?
3. Why have you decided to spend the opening moments of 2006 in that way?

For most of my life I've always just made do with what's available locally when it comes to New Year's Eve, and to be pretty honest that's something that could be said about the whole of my life.

2006 is the year that I change things and start following my dreams instead of doing what keeps other people happy.

To mark the occasion, I've booked myself into a 4* hotel in the middle of Amsterdam. When midnight strikes, I'll either be sitting in the coolest coffee shop in town, or standing on one of the bridges watching the fireworks. :nana:

My imagination's running away with me. Just after I booked it I heard on the news that if there's an outbreak of bird flu that's passed from human to human, the UK will close its borders immediately. To be honest, I'm not all that bothered by the possibility. I'd be as happy as a pig in shit if I became 'stranded' in Amsterdam :catroar:

1. I have no idea where I'll be. This year has been kind of crazy; I take each day as it comes. I hope I will be with good friends and/or family.

2. Drinking. Playing games. Laughing. Flirting (except if it's a family gathering! :D )

3. See number 1. Because this year has been a bit topsy turvy, I just take it as it comes. No real set plans, just concentrating on living in the moment, letting the world of chaos pass me by.

P.S. Scher- I spent last New Year's Eve in Amsterdam. :) Actually, about 10 km north of Amsterdam, but still very nice. Watch out for the fireworks. They are spectacular!

If all goes according to plan, I'll be spending the start of 2006 with the one person dearest to my heart, and it won't be in the UK!!

I'm unbelievably excited and overwhelmed at the way my life is panning out currently.

Like McK, this has been quite a topsy turvy year for me, my life has changed out of all recognition, and I'm loving it!! Every second.

I've never done anything so out of character before, and when I told my youngest this morning of my plans for the next 3 or 4 months at least, his reaction was...WOW !! Fantastic!! Go for it !!

This from a young man who is just about to leave his very secure job (like mother like son), get rid of all his possessions (apart from those that will take up residence with me), and take off round the world with a buddy for a minimum of 6 months, maybe longer....with just a back pack (admittedly a very large backpack), and a finite amount of money.

2006 is going to be a pivotal year in my life and my future. If it goes the way I hope, I am going to be the happiest woman alive.

Hopefully spending it with my dearest friends at Elsie's house, something which is fast becoming a tradition or an old charter or something.

Good for you Mat (and both of you)!

My New Year plans are on hold, been invited back to Iceland, but not sure... might just want to spend this one near home, UK or Portugal.

I reckon I'll be doing the same thing I've done for the last 11 years: sitting here until I go to bed around 11:00.

Or, maybe not, who knows.

1. Have no idea.
2. I aim for having fun.
3. Haven't decided.

Jaysus, it's only October. I usually have my New Years plans set by Christmas.

Not a bleedin' clue -which I think covers it all.

I'll stay up till midnight but I'll probably be home, snuggling with my hubby :rose:
