I just had my first story rejected and I don't have a clue how to fix it. I tried a different story but I can't seem to submit it from word on my phone. I tried to find an editor but can't seem to get past the page that tells me to read the guidlines. I don't know how to spell check on the site. I am new to computers. The only thing I have to write on is my phone.

It’s like the book in A Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Universe says - don’t panic. You’ve come to the right place. Take your problems one at a time.

Like Melissababy asked, what was the reason for rejection?

Spellcheck - if you’re writing in Word like you said, do your spelling checks in that program.

Editor. Go to the Editors’ Forum, start a thread and ask for help.

Submitting. I too write in Word. I copy-and-paste to this site. It works. You must have managed to submit one story, you can do it again. We’ll help.

Only having a phone, new to computers. Milton was blind and had to dictate his work. Jonathon Swift had to write Gulliver’s Travels with a feather pen. What they have in common with you is a miraculous mind, one rich in imagination and adaptability. One uses what one has.

Writing on a phone... YIKES!

There's a lot of things you can do on a phone, but writing, not really one of my favorites. But I have a desktop and a laptop, along with a phone. So, I set.

Like Melisa asked, why was it rejected.

I sometimes jot down notes on my phone. Sometimes, I can even figure out what they meant later.

High school kids these days write five-paragraph essays on their phones. They think nothing of it.

I do some writing on my phone, although it is more notes and blocking out scenes. I would strongly suggest that you do your final edits and proofing on a big screen.

Also check your PM. I am new too but waiting for beta feedback on a couple of LIT stories and editing some of my sf, so I have the editor hat on and would be willing to take a look.

First things first - if the OP can tell us which of the standard rejection messages he's received (there are maybe half a dozen standard rejection texts, all couched as a series of questions) we'll be able to point him in the right direction. It might be content, it might be punctuation and grammar - we don't know the reason, yet.

Yeah, I look back at some texts I have sent and scratch my head in wonder.

I do, however,do some proof reading on my phone. I find that I can spot a lot of those pesky typos that are spelled correctly but mean something completely different.

As MelissaBaby pointed out, there should be an Admin note letting you know what needs to be corrected. It’s difficult to offer more specific help without knowing the issue, sorry.

But I write/read everything on my phone, too, and write all of my Lit stories on my phone, so I hoped I might have a few helpful tips. I use iPhone Xs, Chrome browser and Google Docs to write and submit to Lit. Whatever you’re using, I strongly recommend doing all your editing, formatting, spell check etc in your app BEFORE uploading to Lit since it’s difficult to scroll and correct IN the submission form. Likewise, before submitting for publication, I go to Preview and if there’s any changes/corrections, I go back to Google Docs and make the changes there. That way, I can just cut/paste my corrected text. Hope this helps!

I wrote probably 75/80% of Hard Landing Ch 03 & 04 on my phone. (20k+ words) But I go in and revise/edit on my Mac before I submit.

Point. Part of the reason why I offered to take a look was to see if anything jumped out in the manuscript.

I've been writing on my phone lately. My last few chapters submitted here were written on my phone and uploaded here from my phone too.

With my laptop broken, well it works but I can't move it from the table because the hinges are broken, but with it not being portable, it's easier to write on my phone.

When my kids first suggested writing on my phone I thought, there's no way. But then I was laying in bed, had an idea, so I grabbed my phone and typed it up, and found it actually wasn't difficult like I thought it would be.

I’ve always written my stories on an iPhone as draft emails and then converted them to word on my laptop. It’s easy.

As regards rejection, as others have said, you need to specify which rejection notice you received before you can receive advice on that problem.

Still confused.

It's just spelling now as far as I can tell. My real problem is I wrote this story on the Literotica submission form. I don't know how to get the story anywhere else. I can't put it in Word so I can spell check it. I don't know how to use a spell check ap to check it on the site. I don't know how to send it to an editor from the site. Basically the story is now the property of Literotica because of my ignorance. I just don't know how to navigate in the world of computers. It took me a long time just geting back to the forums to find out that people actually responded to my quearry. I'm just not very computer saavy.

Ok, first things first. Are you using a computer or an ipad/phone? That will make a difference to step 2.

However you entered the text into the LIT submission box, you can save it as a draft. Later, on a computer or tablet+keyboard, you can retrieve the text, grab all of it, and paste it into a word editor or processor. If your phone is Android, it should support a remote keyboard -- I dunno about Apple stuff. But a cheap Bluetooth or USB keyboard might be all you need.

Nope, the story is totally YOUR property, to edit, post, ignore, or delete as you choose.
