Do we have a rock start amongst us?

No, I am not a rock star. I was just one of the horn players (soprano, alto, baritone). But I did get to meet (and occasionally play with) a few boys and girls who went on to bigger and better. In the early days, some of the ‘trads’: Humphrey Lyttleton, Acker Bilk, Kenny Ball; and then Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Keith Emerson, Mike Walker, and a few others. Also, a few of the US jazz greats. My own playing days came to a crashing halt when I picked up an obscure virus that wiped out part of my lungs. It’s hard to play baritone sax when you don’t have a full set of lungs.

Wow, sorry to hear your career got cut short. Keith Emerson, one of my favourite rock stars, especially of ELP fame. Shame he got taken too early along with Greg Lake. I saw Carl Palmer playing ELP earlier this year. Kind of made up for the fact I never saw them before they died.

Also many years ago, I used to play in the house band for a then well-known London club. We had a whole set based on TV themes. It went over a treat.

Yet here we are. What a fucking mess.
And the frigging clocks have gone back, it's dark and raining
And the Queen's dead
Are there any ravens left on the ToL?

The put the idiot in and said go ahead and slash tax
The markets reacted and the idiot was replaced
So now we are faced with more tax and more of the same.
The cant admin that "b" was a total fuckup that they did not want as they knew it would be a clusterfuck
Slash and burn the public services or put up taxes
There is not much left to sell off.
But it means the speculators and the bankers will make money so that is ok.
But give is a couple of years and once again the hard of thinking will put them back in power - with the promise of tax cuts or a pony

It's great stuff - especially if you've had to take anti-biotics or simply feel a bit jippy. I wonder if Americans would understand jippy? I'm not sure I'd have eaten a fish finger sandwich in the first place.
