New toplists

(Also, if the monthly contests were still going, you would have easily have more contest winners.)

This absolutely has to be done. Otherwise, the proposed system will be a great incentive to create fake “series” under flimsy excuses, then cram as many of one’s stories that wouldn’t have a chance to make it onto a toplist along with the story that did make it.

I'm not sure it would create that big an advantage. I suspect most readers who find a story they really enjoy are going to go look at the author profile and see what else they've done.
They'd still only be occupying one spot on the list, which is the important thing.

My only issue with this new sorting method is that new stories used to be safe from vote-bombing when they fell to 4.84, because that's when they got buried several pages deep behind all the other, older 4.84s with more votes. There's a reason why out of my 29 stories, there's always 10-11 of them at 4.84, some at 4.83, and some 4.82, and it isn't statistical distribution And why each time a story dares go to 4.85 or above, it's pulled down in a couple of days.

Anyway, my point is, now a 4.84 is still vulnerable, and a new story won't be safe and hidden until it hits 4.83.This will be the new norm for greatness in LS. The momentary win of seeing new stories show up to encourage discovery won't have a long-term benefit, but we'll see. The roster of new 4.84s should refresh frequently enough to keep the top list relevant.

Also, I published 1 short story, 1 epic 6-chapter novel, and a final chapter of another story in 2026 alone. I've broken all Cathy records forever. How much more you think I can write?!

I have decided, after reviewing the all time erotic couplings list and finding seven of my stories (chapters from two serials and a standalone story) in the top 50, that I am very much in favor of the new lists.

Sure, I could debate pros and cons for hours, and whether chapters should be allowed (one of those serials is completed and the other is a sequel but stands separate), but I benefited, so I don't want to.

That's right, it hasn't updated. One more thing to wonder about.

It's updated now. I noticed it took a few days for the review bombers to pick up again, which made me think whoever is behind it had to update an automated script, because for a couple of days I got a lot of attention and positive votes on those 7 stories. Then two days ago all but one of them were hit with enough bad votes to pull them out of the top 50. The only one that remains is the one with like 800 votes, so it'll take a bit longer to drag it down.

It was fun while it lasted.

I've always focused on a few select categories rather than the whole list so the change isn't a shock. However, the vote restack/compression leading up to this really bothers me.

My story, "The Valentine's Dance," which was near the top of its category (as high as number 3) with a fairly stable score for years got bombed down in that process some months ago and now it probably wouldn't be on a category top 1000 list. As someone whose writing (and reading) time is very limited these days and who depends on discovery of my backlog to get new readers, that's discouraging.
