Hello,

Just a note in hopes of sharing the work and art, making friends and rubbing hearts.

Been lurking in the AH for a time.

The writing and writers around here, prose writers and poets, seem to have, overall, a higher level of quality than many of the poetry and literature sites I've checked out. And clearly the erotic is welcomed and elevated, which is a new area of poetry for me.

I just submitted 3 of my poems (non erotic). I would love feedback, as I am an amateur. I grow through challenge, and I want to grow as a writer and a man, and, of course, flattery will get you everywhere.

I love poetry that marries Heaven and Earth,
that reveals the shine and glow of Spirit
in the darkness and in conventional places,
that grasps for that silent suspension between worlds,
that gasp between breaths, where I am held
on the precarious edge of the star pricked void,
suffering the longing to let go and fall away and
the fear of leaving my attachment
to this wicked and beautiful mess of love
under my feet.

Poets I love?

If I could gather

Wild breath from the bones of Stafford, Rilke, Goethe,
Vallejo, Novalis, and Lorca's Spaniards ---

Ecstatic fire from the hearts of Eckhart, Rumi, Hafiz,
Lawrence, Kabir, and the author of the Gnostic John ---

Mad water from the souls of Dickinson, Ahkmatova, Mirabai,
Levertov, Oliver and Olds ---

Mythic earth from the graves of Blake, Morrison, Joyce,
Holderlin, Hesiod, and Knight ---

Fierce laughter from the eyes of Heraclitus, Basho, Issa,
Ignatow, Po, and Snyder ---

O, I would build me a world!

I'm a husband and father.

I also love really bad and obtuse jokes and puns (Two eggs are in a hot pan. One says to the other, "Ah! We're being scrambled!" The other replies, "Oh my god, a talking egg!"). I love horror, hard boiled detective and literary fiction. I love mythology, psychology and sacred scripture of any origin. I love sex and see it as a hot, fun and earthly path to spiritual and sacred communion. I love martial arts, hunting, being with my wife and children, expensive beer and cheap wine. I really love the blues, blues-rooted rock, spirituals and gospel.

I have been called intelligent, funny, creative, playful, stubborn, strong, willful, determined, sexy, ugly, arrogant, generous, kind, sweet, and a stick in the mud. I am always happy to add to my adjective collection.

That's my ragged little bag of introduction.

I'd love the nickel tour of the poet's corner if anyone is willing.

Thanks.

Hi, and welcome! I can't give you the nickle tour, sorry. Besides there are better folks for that than me. But I can say you'll have to shorten your location by quite a bit. It messes with the posts. Check out some other's locations and you'll see what I mean.

Have fun; you will learn a lot here.

Hi S&D welcome to the Poetry Forum. :)

i love your intro :) i looked for your poems but my browser must be faulty today, so I'll have another try tomorrow. :)

this Forum is pretty straight forward. just jump in and join any threads. there's a sprinkling of threads that are poetry only, check out the Stickies at the top of the forum and feel free to ask any questions you like.

it might help to have a link to your stories/poetry in your sig line.

enjoy your stay.

Ah, how did she forget clutching_calliope- femme fatale? Keep your hand over your heart when she passes or she's sure to steal it!

I enjoyed your hello's, and I love Rilke, too. And your adjectives: both sexy and ugly, that's very intriguing.

Being new to the boards myself I can tell you that there are some incredible people here, and good poets to boot. They each have carved a niche for themselves:

Flyguy69 - the resident jester
Wild Sweet One - writes the best nature poetry ever (plus she's sweeter than sugar)
Tzara - has an AV for every occasion and mathematics, don't even get me started....
Tathagata - Zen master
Annaswirls - I'm not sure if genius is the right word, but it's the first word that comes to mind.
Wicked Eve - artist extrordinaire
Neoneurotic - has a gift for saying exactly the right thing exactly when you need it said.
The Rain Man - is the man who tells the stories and helps us remember what shouldn't be forgotten
Angeline - I swear everything she writes is a song I once knew, pure talent.
Liar - is his own nemesis, because everything he says is the truth. So helpful.

There are so many other talented and gifted people here, and as you can see from my descriptions, they are great people first and incredible writers second. I'm sure you'll discover this on your own.

Best of luck in your stay, that'll be one wooden nickel, tips are expected. ;)

Welcome to the "verst" side of Literotica. ;)

To start: If you haven't already read it, please click on this link and go read:Poets: Please Read (Welcome, Info, Useful Links, Awards).

Beyond that, you are on your own. There is no tour. Just jump in. The water is wet, but warm, and this fish may nibble but doesn't bite. - People to watch for, who have not been mentioned yet, include Lauren Hynde, the main Mistress of this forum (who has been busy and thus absent recently), MET, (My Erotic Tale/Tail/Trail/?), and Senna Jawa. All three of whom have followings, not necessarily mutually exclusive (but often so).

I have read your first three submissions and look forward to reading more.

Regards, Rybka

well, i'm not sure what the reason is, but i cannot find your submitted poetry S&D. i've tried both browsers. i think i'm having a backward moment or something. lol

somebody please post a link in here so i can click and read, please *on knees begging*

:D

 for Calli, thank you. - i'll have to work on the sweet thing.

Tickled and warmed by the responding intros, info and welcomes, not to mention the feedback, suggestions and tips.

Looking forward to future tangles and tangos.

Thank you.

<scribbled intently on old envelope>I owe Calli one wooden nickel. Tip to be determined. S&D</scribbled intently on old envelope> And thank you, Neonurotic and Rybka for the Star Charts and bios.

(Flyguy, thanks for the warning. I will lash myself to the mast when her song is in the air).

Wild Sweet One, I linked my nascent poetry page in my sig line. Hope you can view. Let me know here or PM me if you can't.

Boo, you are like offered blackberry tea for a new arrival.

Welcome. I read your three poems and they're all wonderful. I'm a great fan of Langston Hughes and your Blackbird's a Comin is reminiscent of some of his work to my ear. I could hear the blues in it. :)

Your link works. Thank you for taking the time to include it. :)

I read your three poems and found in 'God's Dark Hands', and in 'That High Light' that there are some line endings which could be improved. The last word in each line is important as it stays in the reader's mind longer, so ending with 'and' or 'that' or 'of' can be a wasted opportunity.

I look forward to reading more of your poetry.

:)

If you change that to Raspberry Tea I'll be delighted. Better yet, if you make a garbage can full of Harvey Wallbangers I'll be ecstatic!!

Welcome home, S&D!!

you forgot me
unless I was just implied in the hot, fun and earthy sex <grin>

can't really welcome you here, considering I just lurk myself among poets who, you know, actually write poetry, whereas I just dabble and toss paint off my prose canvas once in a while, and whoops, I think I wrote a poem there... sorta...

you will fare far better here than I!!! ;)

I like your poems.....

they are real. They are good work. Give this place a month or
so. You won't be able to write your name much less the fine
poems you have showed to date. Kick your feet up and stay
awhile, I need some new ideas.

Forgotten, my Selena, I think not... :rose:

There Are Forces

There are forces unseen
except by the sensuality
of their signature,
the erections of their inspirations.

(your ragged breath, my rustling branches)

My world is written with you,
your ink and ebb and flow,
invisible script under lid
and root and rock and sole.

(your retreating torrents, my smoothed stones)

If I could pump my poetry
into your lovely mess of vessels
so that you could see, not poems,
but poetically, would you open
that vein to me?

(your arced horizons, my curled fingers)

If you listen to Kabir, as he compels,
you will find that swelled
well of vessels feeding
your infinite heart flooded,
before yesterdays, with my seed.

(your gathering heat, my rising ashes)
