My girlfriend and I have been experimenting with our sex lives lately and we've discovered that she loves being spanked on the ass, especially when bent over.

There's a library thread pinned to the top of the BDSM Talk forum that is broken down (alphabetically) by catagory; under "C" you should find links to online checklists- going over those together can A) give y'all a few ideas and B) help you understand what you are each wanting/needing out of BDSM.

Let me give my advice to the new, namely: Communication, especially in the early going is absolutely necessary. Talk about it beforehand, talk during (harder, softer, left, right, etc.), and especially talk about the experience afterward.
