new to the board

welcome :)

a quick piece of advice, since you're new here: don't let the mean folks get you down. there's a lot of immature assholes who get their kicks by being randomly mean for no real reason at all.

so look around and have fun. there's a lot of nice people here

I beg to differ.

Nobody on the GB is really mean.

Not really.

Some think they are badass but in reality it is just a bitter brew form having no job and not getting laid.

Example of somebody pretending they are badass is RoryN, AKA LJ_reloaded, AKA Laurel.

I hate when people use the internet as a place to act tough.

Is not.

Misspell something and the internet googlelectuals come out of the woodwork to tell you how stupid you are.

BTW I'm ready when you are.

well... being college educated myself.. I do have a problem when people use "their" for "there" or "they're" ... it's annoying... and spelling.. well.. that's what those red squiggly lines are for.

is too, sadly.
newbies are notoriously treated with a big spoonful of harsh. maybe that's because a lot of n00bs are actually alts or trolls or spammers, and not actually new people.

like i said, there's nice people all over the place here, but there's mean too. i've seen it and felt it many times

Spelling schmelling. I got better things to do than worry over peoples typos or misspells. It is the thought behind the words that interest me. I know horribad writers that are brilliant.

Example. RoryN is a lovely writer but will bore you to tears because all he talks about his his own perceived awesomeness. But to be fair he is the best employee Burger King has ever had.

I'm not about to go all nazi on bad spelling either... I'm just saying.. it's annoying when you see it a LOT.

initiation still lives on the GB.

Nice to see you around, Chemgirl; hopefully, you'll find plenty of entertainment around here, and ample distraction from your studies. :)
