New Tammany Awards....

"To take from one because it is thought that his own industry and that of his father’s has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association—the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it."

- Thomas Jefferson.

Wrote a man who let his slaves do all of the heavy lifting.

(Sorry, couldn't resist.)

A repeat one to UK's Labour party for continuing to deny that their spend, spend, borrow and spend some more had anything to do with the UK's current debt problems. (and for continually pressing the Governement to borrow and spend more, and cut less.)

A large one for those who proposed PFI (Private Finance Initiative) for building new hospitals that we couldn't afford by mortgaging a large percentage of future income to pay the developers. PFI is responsible for more financial crises in the National Health Service than any other cause.

Another one for all UK politicians for the Levison enquiry into Press Standards. All politicians wanted favourable media coverage and seemed to be willing to roll over and have their tummies rubbed to get it. It's not the Press that should be vilified but the politicians.

Amen to that, Ogg.

Sounds like you have plenty of crooks in the UK, too.

A Tammany to Senators Reid (the fraudulent one, who stole the election that he was going to lose until the brownout) and McCain (Mr. 'Straight Talk" himself) for their obsession with boxing, at a time when we need work on actual issues, like the deficit and the recession.

Pose and pander much?

Super Tammany to the Supreme Court for upholding Obamacare as a "tax", when it was passed as a "mandate" with a penalty. If inconsistency were a crime, they would be doing life.

Yep the end of federalism as we know it...now the government will be able to tell you what, where, when and how much to spend on anything and call it a tax when they fine you for not doing so.

Bye, bye American pie...guess it's time to fly.

There is a good chance Obamacare will be repealed in Jan., but this damage has already been done. With the SCOTUS decision, the gov. will be able to require people to do all sorts of things they don't want to do, and fine them if they don't, with no kind of hearing or anything else, just by calling those fines taxes. :(

I think you are counting a lot of chickens before the eggs have even been laid.

I'm not counting anything yet. To do what I suggest, the Reps will have to keep control of the House, win the Senate with a solid majority and win the presidency. All those things are possible, but none of them will be easy. That's why I worded it the way I did.

A Tammany to Europe for saying we should help them with their financial problems!

Have they actually said that? I believe we are being asked to bail out Greece, which is like my neighbor telling me I should pay their rent and other bills because they have spent all their money on new clothes, vacations, etc. Nuts to them!

A Tammany to the UK Banks:

1. Manipulating the Libor Rate.
2. RBS crashing their computer system and cutting 17 million customers off.
3. Misselling complicated loans and other financial products to small businesses that made commissions for the sellers, profits to the bank, and massive unforeseen and unforecast losses to the small businesses.
4. Still paying massive bonuses for incompetence.

Are the UK banks run by the government. That incompetence sounds like it. :(
