One to former President Bill Clinton, for in breath opposing President Obama's tax policy (gutsy of him) and then in another endorsing him still. If you think that the President's tax policy is awful, why in Jove's name do you want him to still be President? Why, Bill? Or is it just party loyalty above the national interest?
Maybe because some people can separate out issues from the candidate. Clinton might think the Bush era tax cuts are worth saving but believe overall that Obama is worth endorsing and a lot of people are like that. Part of the problem we have these days is people who see things as it is either all or nothing, who aren't willing to compromise or agree to disagree on certain things. Are the Bush era tax cuts the only important issue out there? Is any single issue worth dumping someone? It is part of the problem where issues like abortion or religious faith or gays have become 'litmus tests' or where it is 'you better totally agree with me, or else' mentality. A lot of arguments can be made about the Bush era tax cuts, including the fact that maintaining them is unlikely to help bring us out of recession, given that based on the economy during Bush's realm they didn't do what they were promised to do.....but whether they are good or bad, they are one issue, and quite honestly, the future of the US doesn't rest on that one issue. When you have single issue voters you get politicians who frankly have their head up their ass, just think of the people who voted for a moron like Santorum based only on his stance on abortion and sex.
