New Tammany Awards....

One to former President Bill Clinton, for in breath opposing President Obama's tax policy (gutsy of him) and then in another endorsing him still. If you think that the President's tax policy is awful, why in Jove's name do you want him to still be President? Why, Bill? Or is it just party loyalty above the national interest?

Maybe because some people can separate out issues from the candidate. Clinton might think the Bush era tax cuts are worth saving but believe overall that Obama is worth endorsing and a lot of people are like that. Part of the problem we have these days is people who see things as it is either all or nothing, who aren't willing to compromise or agree to disagree on certain things. Are the Bush era tax cuts the only important issue out there? Is any single issue worth dumping someone? It is part of the problem where issues like abortion or religious faith or gays have become 'litmus tests' or where it is 'you better totally agree with me, or else' mentality. A lot of arguments can be made about the Bush era tax cuts, including the fact that maintaining them is unlikely to help bring us out of recession, given that based on the economy during Bush's realm they didn't do what they were promised to do.....but whether they are good or bad, they are one issue, and quite honestly, the future of the US doesn't rest on that one issue. When you have single issue voters you get politicians who frankly have their head up their ass, just think of the people who voted for a moron like Santorum based only on his stance on abortion and sex.

I get your point. Certainly, there's more than one issue at stake. But, still....Bill is notorious for being a two-faced liar to begin with. The timing was odd, to attack the President for his tax policy in one breath and warn that Romney would be a disaster in the next, even as he praises Romney's record at Bain Capital.

Oh, and I'm not a single-issue voter by any means. Otherwise, I'd be for Romney.

I just think that Slick Willie is up to his usual attention stealing. Hence the Tammany. He got three opportunities for public exposure in just a few days. Pandering to the Jon Lovitzes of the Democratic Party in one breath and then to the Obama Administration (of which his wife is a member) in the next. He was probably brought out just to deal with Lovitz and other disgruntled limousine liberals like him, and then still give Obama some support in the same week....plus attention stealing, like I said.

Personally, I'm still voting for Gary Johnson this fall. Because he is the candidate in favor of the least government, which is not quite as good as no government, but is better than Governor RINO, who has suddenly found religion about so many neo-con talking points (so much that National Review) is now pandering as bad as Clinton on certain things. If you're known by the company you keep, well, there are few camps as revolting as the neo-cons. Bunch of Wilsonian imperialists, the lot of them.

A Tammany for you, too, Governor. What DO you believe in? At least, what do you believe in this week?

And one to National Review for beating the war drums again.

Last, but not least, one for the unions who are pushing to get rid of Scott Walker, just because he won't let them force people to pay dues to unions that they don't wish to join. There are other issues, but it boils down to them wanting to force a closed or union shop on Wisconsin public employees. Talk about greedy.

Update: they just failed. Scott Walker has beaten the recall.

Oh, and I just remembered that I need to give Nancy Pelosi a Tammany for her hypocrisy on the Senate's pay for male vs. female staff. Why anyone asked her opinion on the other chamber, I don't know, but be that as it may, she single-handledly undercut her fellow feministas on the pay issue.

Mind you, I'm an anarchist, so I tend to think of the feminist push for "equal pay" as another excuse for more governmental power. But, even so, if you want to push for it, do so consistently. Don't give your buddies in that gentlemen's club called the Senate a pass. What a complete asshat that makes her.

So, you're stuck like Chuck with few choices, if any. Voting Green, then?

The geographical argument, I can understand. If Quebec were located where BC is, you probably wouldn't care as much (except losing a coast).
I'd rather form a new party for the right then vote Green any day of the year!

As for the idea that I'd not care if Quebec was on a coast and not almost dead center of the country, you are right.

I'd like to nominate my employer Real Canadian Superstore for a Tammany. They are voted the "#1 Employer of New Canadians" only because you don't have to speak an official language to work for the company. Then they go and cut hours, hoping that the senior people with full-time and high pay will decide to leave - talk about stupid!

They sound like U-Haul, which "fired" my wife on false pretenses last year.

I thought as much about Quebec.

I take it that you're more right of center than left. I don't blame you about the Greens. I could never vote for a Green. They want far too much of a role for government.

In June 2010, I got terminated from McDonalds for "not working to my full potential" - bullshit! How do they know when they got good vision and I don't?

Btw, the most memorable thing from the 2004 election that produced a Liberal minority government for me (yes, I paid some attention to it, despite living in AZ) was the brief moment of concern and surprise when the Marxist-Leninist Party had a temporary lead for one seat.

Still not sure what the big deal about Quebec is. They seem to be like Puerto Rico in that if they left, there would be a net gain for the treasury.

Quebec has a huge protection by the way our system was set up with a guaranteed number of seat in our (unelected) senate. Of course those seats are appointed so parliament stacks it according to whoever is in at the time. You're correct, cash balance would be better without Quebec.

In BC a friend of mine voted marijuana party. He's not a smoker. I asked him why and he said "They know how to run a cash business." :|

That royally sucks. Just because I don't care much for the State doesn't mean I like Big Business much, either. At times, they really have a talent for asshattery.

Good one. Marijuana Party sounds good to me. Talk about supporting small business.

10-4 on that. They also deserve a Tammany as well (not to mention after I was terminated they lost all their other good workers fairly quickly and now mostly import workers run the place)!

Dang Newfies!

I think that the state of Connecticut's Governor and state legislature be awarded a Tammany Award for spending $300,000 dollars on the Communist Party.

Connecticut despite massive debt and a mushrooming deficit, Governor Dannel Malloy, with the obedient Democrat legislature in tow, will spend a $300,000 “grant-in-aid to Progressive Education and Research Associates to finance renovations to the New Haven Peoples Center at 37 Howe Street.”

The masquerades of Progressive this and People that aside, 37 Howe Street happens to be the headquarters for the Connecticut Communist Party, run by Joelle Fishman, who also happens to be the regional bureau chief for the infamous Peoples World. Which, yes, also happens to be located at 37 Howe Street.

Connecticut has the highest per-capita debt of any state, along with being the highest taxed state in the nation.

Yep, they deserve one for that! :D

How about Edmonton's City Council wasting a million dollars of taxpayer money to try and see if they could get the Worlds there in 2015?

Where are they trying to get the world too, in 2015? I know there are those who believe the world will end this year, so are you telling us that someone conducted a study to see if the world really does end this year?

It used to be I had a harder time finding candidates for a Tammany, now the awards are dropping like rain.

I must award one to the actress Amanda Bynes, for the following:

1. Sideswiping a cop while possibly (indeed, probably) driving under the influence. I'm no fan of the State, as you know, but I'm not in favor of sideswiping sheriff's deputies, either.
2. Trying to use her "influence" with President Obama (who, to his credit, hasn't lifted a finger to help the cerebrally challenged thespian in her DUI case) to help her with the case by pulling strings and actually ASKING HIM TO FIRE THE SAID DEPUTY, thus adding insult to injury and .....
3. Exposing to the world her absolute, phenomenal ignorance of civics, since she clearly doesn't know that Sheriffs and their deputies DON'T REPORT TO THE PRESIDENT. They are county peace officers and the President has no lawful say in their employment or lack thereof. Word of advice, Amanda. If you want someone fired, ask the principal to can the man or woman who taught you civics, because they did a piss-poor job.

One to the U.S. Labor Department, for listing such jobs as bus driving, sweeping the floor for solar firms, and working in bike shops, as "green jobs". WTF!:devil:

Hey, Mr. President, Mr. Secretary, what's next as a green job....farming for corn to make ethanol? No disrespect to the farmers (though most of them are probably just mega agri-businesses who receive massive federal subsidies), but that's likely the next candidate to be named a "green job", if they haven't already. This ranks up with the Slaughter Solution for blatant insults to our intelligence.

To put it mildly, those of you who testified in front of Mr. Issa and his Committee are fucked. If Ollie North can be tried and convicted for lying to Congress, it can happen to you, too.

Update: apparently, being an oil lobbyist is a green job, too.

Green Job - Grow Corn for Fuel, instead of for food. Now that's smart. There is one thing good that might come out of it, no more high fructose corn syrup to worry about.

Yeah, let's not think about it wasting taxpayer dollars to line the pockets of agri-business corporate fatcats or the fact that it triggers higher food prices and exacerbates world hunger by reducing available food from the world's breadbasket (in case you didn't know, that is still the US of A).

We'll ignore those issues. They're not politically correct.:devil:

On a personal, more selfish note...it also makes bourbon and other forms of whiskey more expensive. :(

And I'm not directing that at you, FW. Just at those asshats responsible for this kind of mentality in government. These are the same pricks who preach "spreading the wealth", but apparently what they really want is to control the wealth and where it goes, including to their friends.

And you don't think the powers that be...i.e. Washington policats, don't know that? They want those prices to increase, they want those dollars in their pockets no matter how much their constituents pay to put them there.

My question is, when the bubble explodes what good is all that wealth going to do them? When no one is producing anything, what will there be to buy with all those dollars, pesos, etc.?

Denial ain't just a river in Egypt, friend. They believe that this can keep going on, because the alternative is facing facts and curbing their addiction to our money. That's not something that they can embrace.

It's like the drug war. The People don't want it anymore, but those schmucks in DC won't listen to us. Right or Left, they insist on goose-stepping their way to tread on us and drag people out of their homes.

We really don't live in a free country these days, friend. We haven't since the Civil War.

They wanted to bring the World Expo in 2015 to Edmonton, not the major event, just a recognized one. What a huge waste of money! :p

Not to mention they shut down the City Center Airport and re-routed all traffic to the Edmonton International, which is 45 minutes away from downtown and the hospitals there. There goes good health support for those who need it up north! :(

A Tammany to Eric Holder for trying to cover his ass on the "Fast and Furious" deal.

But another to Obama, for circumventing the Constitution on the deportation issue, and yet another to Governor Brewer for being angry about the wrong thing. It's not the immigration issue and some ten year old not getting deported. Why should a ten year old living here bother you that much? No, it's about the way that it was done, by imperial edict like a Czar, rather than by Constitutional means.

Enough executive orders, already, Mr. President! As for you, Governor, your attitude about immigration is becoming obvious, when you're more incensed about the kids living here than the President violating his oath of fidelity to the Constitution.
