I just submitted my first longer work on literotica, please give it a read and let me know what you think also how much reading does the novels and novella stories really get?

by the way it's called A Misplaced Letter, and in my word processor ran to 35 pages.

thanks

Wrong forum

Hi hon, and congrats on posting your story. However, this is the wrong forum for your announcement. You should go here: http://www.literotica.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?forumid=1 with your new story info as well as all pleas for feedback. Remember to post a link to your story, too, so people can get to it easily. That'll work to increase the amount of people that will go seek it out.

While we're on the subject--

I'm posted on three free sites and probably a few pay sites that I don't know about. Finding my work is a tough matter on these sites because there is no easy way to plug into the Author Index.

On Litcom if you've got something posted on the first page of NEW you have a fighting chance of getting it read by old and new readers alike. But what do you do if you run into an author whose opinions and postings you respect in the BB's and whose stories you'd like to read.

For example I'll take WhisperSecret. Her name comes after mine (and nearly everybody elses) alphabetically and so you can't even say "Oh WS is on page such and such of the author index go to that page."

Chances are that page isn't even showing in the index number files yet. So you go to the last page and click on and then hope that the next few pages include the one you're looking for.

Yes there's a point to all this and I don't think it's too much of systems problem to solve (If I'm wrong, I'll apologize in NEON). How about a cgi where we can enter an author's name and it takes us straight to their index page? Or in the case where two authors have an altered version of the same name it can narrow our search significantly. If it's too expensive, let us know. Some of us might be foolhardy enough to chip in a buck or two to help cover the new expense.

Just a suggestion. I love this site and the people I post with--Thanks, Lyssa

Can I add my support to Ulyssa's suggestion. OK, I can find my way to a work by a given author, but an 'author search' function would be so useful for finding a favourite more quickly.

My bookmarks are cluttered enough!

Alex

I know you guys already know that there's a roundabout way to do what you're asking for in a straightforward manner, but others might not know so i'll detail it here for them:

1. go to the STORY INDEX page
2. scroll waaaaay down to SEARCH MEMBERS
3. scroll down to USER NAME
4. enter the author's name
~~bingo~~
you get a listing of everything written by that author.

Kinda unwieldy but, well, it works.

(I add my voice to those raised for a simple, clean Author Lookup search function, if one can be instituted that is both easy to install and inexpensive to maintain.)

Works for you and Alex, Cym, but my beginning initial is a "U!"

You can see my frustration.

Thanks for backin' us up.

http://www.literotica.com/stories/member_search.php

Int he block for Member/author name enter "Ulyssa" and press enter. The only match should be the link to your author's/member's page.

If you want WhisperSecret's stories, use her name instead of yours.

You can limit searches to only those members who have submitted something, only those with pictures on their profiles, only females, and almost any other ctrierion that is in the profile.

It is a fairly complete search function.

My hero!

All right, it works! Thank you! Thank you!
See now I can read your stuff too, WH.

Okay so why don't they have this stuff posted some place? I have been bouncing back and forth between pages trying to find authors and it was making me NUTS!!!
I had to guess on which page and then go forward or back depending on how badly I missed the author.
As long as everyone was so helpful, getting this figured out. How do you make your smiley faces work on these pages. Weird Harold thinks he has lots of questions, he should just stand back...I've got bunches. But, here and now, isn't the place to ask them...grin

I knew after I re-read the post and realized what I had done that you were going to get me on that misquote! What I meant to say was you have the answers and I have the questions :D
Thanks for the info on the smiley faces, I'm trying it out here to see if I can get it to work.
Just remember if you need a question, just let me know...grin!
