After you finish your story, after you've done all the editing you can do, don't overlook the wonderful resource you have available to you here of the volunteer editors. These are a couple dozen people who volunteer their time to help writers like you and me submit more polished stories. What you need to do is choose carefully among them to get one (or two or three) who like to edit the kind of stuff you like write. Many of them list the sorts of stories they want or definitely do not want to edit. Pay attention to their stated prefs. It's only polite.

I posted four stories here before summoning the courage to ask for editing help with my fifth. The help i've recieved from these unpaid, highly skilled, honest and talented people has been invaluable. So don't be afraid to ask; they're here for that purpose.
