I'm curious about others feel about how the new format displays the stories. As an author it might not matter. But I do not care for it. I have less information to choose. I like to have more tools to screen the few stories I have time to read. Story title and description is insufficient. I like to see the scoring others have given the story at least. I tried to switch to the old 'classic' format but the story only took up half the screen as well.

Looks like they want the reader to click on "more stories" so the reader can see past the first 10 and make a judgment from there. Hmm, maybe the theory is that it helps those stories that don't make the cut for the first 10 to get more visibility?

On another note, it seems the display of comment page and 1st story page has also been tweaked. The Public Beta Window says this:

Note: November 2025 update is live! We are improving site performance and adding new features based on your feedback. Exciting changes coming to Author Profile

Small tweaks I found: Reading List icon is visible on 1st story page. Author bio is at the top of the comment page. Narrower story title window.

What exactly is new? I haven't noticed anything different in the past few weeks.
Hmm, maybe I'm hallucinating. The display of stories in the category new list does look different somehow. But now I'm remembering that scores/stats have been removed for a while now, for those first 10 stories listed?

Yeah, until you click "more stories." It has been like that for a while, no?

Before it was opt in, now it's opt out.

The hall of fame on the story categories no longer seems to have the 100 votes minimum qualifier either.
You're talking about accessing through Category -> Most Popular, right? Certainly seems to be the case. But also ratings aren't consistent between the Category page and the Toplist pages. One of my stories has 56 votes in my dashboard, on the Story page, on the Series page and on the Category page; it has 57 on the toplist (and the extra vote is a 1, which moves it down sixteen places on the toplist).

It still looks like the all time lists still have the 100 vote minimum to me. Where did you see this?
Category page, scroll down to Most Popular/all time.

The front page has never had the 100 vote requirement. If you click on the blue bar that says More Popular ---- stories, you get to the list that has the 100 vote minimum. That one is much more stable and hard to stay on because you get bombed off of it in minutes to days, depending on category.

That bar just takes you to the Toplist page for the category, which does have a 100 rating minimum to appear in the All-Time list**. I think it's a minimum of 10 ratings for the 12-month list.

**Mostly. Chain Stories, Letters and Transcripts and Reviews and Essays seem to have a lower threshold. Fun fact! Because of the 100 rating minimum, there is only one story on the All-Time Non-English toplist, because it's the only story that qualifies.

Prior to the switch to the new look, and below the latest stories in any category, there were the most "popular" stories of that category, same as now. But at the time, those most popular stories were actually items from the all-time Hall of Fame list that does require 100 votes.
I don't know why they changed that. It doesn't make much sense to me the way it is now.
