After reading this month's newsletter I'm inclined to poll about this issue! I've always been a firm supporter of a sci-fi category here at lit, but every few months someone brings it up and it dies again pretty swiftly. With the suggestion of a True stories category being brought up, i'm gonna poll the Lit public!

So any thoughts?

When i wake up...

I expect to see lots of votes here!
Come on people! Push those buttons!

I think any time Literotica accumulates more than say 25 stories that would fit into a new category, they should create that category or sub-category.

I guess the Kip Carson & English Bob categories are long overdue? ;)

All right, enough teasing Harold. Actually, on second thought, there's never enough teasing Harold...but in all seriousness, if you all want to send me some links to stories that would fall into the Sci-fi/Fantasy category, I'd be glad to add it once we find a decent number of stories. In fact, you could just post the links on this thread if you wanted. I have a few in mind already, and I've had some authors email me suggestions, but let's get some more so we can have this up and running in a couple of days.

Thanks everyone!

Moved this post over here so you authors could check it out. Post links and/or story titles/author names for stories that would fit in a sci-fi/fantasy category. As soon as I have 25, I'll start the new category. Spread the word, and thanks for your help! ;)

I voted for sci-fi, but not true stories. Many people claim their stories are true, but probably aren't, or have their basis in truth but have a lot of embelishments. (After fucking her 5 times and losing track of her orgasms, her sister came in the room and I fucked her another 4 times....)

I'd like to see "group sex" broken down into 'threesomes' and 'group sex' (for four or more). Maybe even a 'gang bang' section for people who are into that too.

Obviously theres not a whole heck-of-a lot of votes in yet....but I am inclined to at least agree on a Sci-Fi category anyway. I've
written a "few" stories, though erotic...border on the sci-fi that didn't do as well as I hoped they would have. And then I did get
a substantial number of good feed-back emails from people that
do enjoy those types of stories. I was told even then, had they
been posted under a category such as this, they might have read them sooner than they did when they sort of "bumped" into them while browsing.

So yea....go for it I say.

I like the "true story" idea. I think you would have to have criteria and start it from now. You couldn't transfer stories. Maybe you could have people who meet the criteria self identify and post their stories where ever and move them when you get to 25.

Not being a sci-fi fan, this is probably a stupid question, but: Wouldn't the sci-fi stories be the same as the non-human stories? If i were a sci-fi fan, that's the first section i would check out for erotic fiction of that genre.

But if you are serious about adding new story sections whenever a genre has 25 or more stories, I would like to add a suggestion. I've always disliked the "Mature - sexy older folks" description, since damn near half of the sexual participants are usually very young. Probably less 20% of the stories are about older couples - most of them are about older/younger relationships. There should be 3 categories: "Mature - for those of a certain age...", "Women and Boys - Older women and younger men", and "Men and Girls - Older men and younger women".

I'm sorry, Laurel... but you should know by now I have a one-track mind when it comes to the type of stories I LOVE to read! :p

New category - "Series"???

Laurel....:)

Ok...I am <sure> this one has also been discussed, so excuse me if I am once again digging up old news here.

But how about a category for "Series" stories? Perhaps for those writers who are doing several chapters (on going) and then have a series compared against how other writer's series are doing.

Anyway...just a thought. But I was curious if this had been kicked around any.

Sub Categories

I love the idea of sub categories. In the group section, separating 3somes from true groups would be nice. Also, after browsing through other categories, incest could be separated by father/daughter, mother/son, brother/sisiter, etc. This would make searching the lists much easier. Divide "Festishes" by types of fetish, etc. :p Just my humble 2 cents

Lots of categories, now

An objection one might have to adding new "Science Fiction" and a new "True Stories" categories would be that there are a whole lot of categories listed now. Those of us who have been with Literotica for some time know what it is and how it works. But new people might find it already a bit much and ever so slightly confusing. But if this is just my own easily-boggled problem, then go ahead. It might be nice.

Another problem might be that there would be overlap with categories already in existence. Consider, for instance, my own true stories that are properly posted in the Exhibitionist/Voyeur category. If people were looking specifically for exhibitionist/voyeur stories, they might not be aware of some in the proposed True Stories category. I found a solution to the dilemma, of sorts. I put "true story" in my titles, ie: "Bar 69: True Story" and "After Bar 69: True Story."

As for the several stated objections to "true stories," they all have good points. Where, we might ask, does fiction begin and autobiography end, of vice versa? I used real experiences and made readable stories out of them. A flat recitation of facts could make a story duller than a news story on a PTA meeting, so I "storyfied" the stories.

Memory is lousy. And in the excitement of the moment, how can anyone remember all the details, names, places, exact situations. I had to go back and inventively construct plausible ones. So the "true" started to get mingled with "fiction." Thus it is unlikely that there are any genuine "true stories" out there, even in the truest autobiography. Since there isn't enough room in even the largest book to record all the exact details, the story gets shortened.

All authors omit things for varieties of reasons and include other things on their own whims. So it is no longer really "true" even if all the facts are precisely correct, which is seldom the case, anyway, because the details are always poorly remembered and have to be at least partially invented. And then some embellishing seems necessary to give the story a life of its own and make it interesting to a reader. So what one might call "true," another could see as "fiction." Nudemodel
